If speculative CVs are sent, no fee will be applicable - please direct all queries to the relevant Resourcing Partner.\nSenior Quantity Surveyor\nChichester, West Sussex\n(with occasional travel to Southampton)\nOur Environment Business delivers end-to-end asset solutions across the UK, supporting clients including Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water, Northumbrian Water, Affinity Water and Scottish Water. We have delivered more than £2bn of assets since AMP3 and continue to grow.\nWe currently operate two capital delivery frameworks for Southern Water (AMP7 and AMP8), with secured work through to 2035. Due to this expanding programme, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team.\nThe role is based in the South East with flexibility to work between office, site and home. Experience with NEC contracts is essential, and experience in the water sector is an advantage.\nAs a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with your line manager to support the commercial administration, reporting and performance of a major project or portfolio of smaller schemes. You will play a key role in cost control, contract and change management, risk mitigation and maintaining a positive cash position. You will also contribute to pre-construction activities, procurement, contract reviews and commercial governance.\nThis is an excellent opportunity to join a people-focused, values-driven organisation and build your career within our established and successful water business.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nPromoting and contributing to a safe working environment.\nPreparing and managing subcontract documentation, including negotiating terms, prices and programmes.\nManaging subcontract packages, including interim assessments and change control.\nIssuing commercial notices to clients and subcontractors in line with contract requirements.\nManaging change in accordance with the contract, including preparing Compensation Event Quotations.\nPreparing, submitting and agreeing monthly applications for payment.\nWorking closely with operational and engineering colleagues to ensure accurate site records.\nProducing detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).\nIdentifying and managing risks and opportunities to support margin improvement.\nManaging main contract change control using the client’s CEMAR system.\nContributing to business targets, including cash, profit and return on capital.\nDeveloping strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to support repeat business.\nCreating and maintaining cost plans, forecasts and subcontractor liability schedules using Oracle-based systems.\nEvaluating expenditure reports and addressing variances.\nAttending progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors.\nSupporting senior leaders in the implementation of initiatives and change activities.\nProviding commercial advice to estimating and bid teams.\nSupporting and developing commercial team members to help them reach their potential.\nAbout you:\nProfessional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS (incorporated or working towards full membership desirable).\nExperience working within a civil engineering environment (e.g., Highways, Rail, Water, Aviation).\nExperience delivering large single projects or multiple smaller schemes.\nCSCS card (as appropriate).\nStrong knowledge of standard forms of contract.\nProficient IT skills, including Excel, Word and commercial systems (CEMAR, Asite, Orbit).\nStrong stakeholder management and communication skills.\nGood understanding of construction processes.\nExcellent organisational and time management abilities.\nProven experience in negotiation and final account settlement.\nWhat We Can Offer in Return:\nWith an impressive order book of over £4.3 billion we are one of the industry’s leading principal contractors, affording you the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most exciting projects offering you stability as well as the chance to stretch your capabilities and realise long held career goals.
