Please click on the Apply button if interested in this job.\nGeneral Description\nThe purpose of this class is to assist in the repair and maintenance of department vehicles and equipment.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nThe functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.\nRepairs to vehicle brake, maintain vehicle services, also mowers.\nPerforms vehicle, and mowers engine repairs.\nPerforms diagnostics, troubleshoots, and makes repairs.\nPerforms on-the-road repairs of disabled road equipment and vehicles.\nOperates road equipment and vehicles for testing purposes.\nMaintains records of repair work done.\nRepairs gas-operated small engine equipment.\nRepairs all vehicles and equipment.\nPerforms related work as assigned.\nMinimum Education and Experience Requirements:\nRequires High School diploma or GED equivalent.\nRequires six months of automotive repair experience or closely related experience.\nPhysical Demands/Work Environment:\nPhysical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.\nUnavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.\nThe work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.\nThe work is typically performed in a service center occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.\nEmergency Preparedness Tier Level: 3\nSpecial Certifications and Licenses:\nMust possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.\nRequires a Texas vehicle inspector license within 6 months of employment.\nRequires FEMA 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications within 6 months of employment.\nRequires Commercial Driver's License class B (minimum).
