Please click on the Apply button if interested in this job.\nGeneral Description\nThe purpose of this class is to supervise the maintenance and operations of the county parks system.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nThe functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.\nSupervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.\nCoordinates, assigns, and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.\nCoordinates park maintenance activities and crews, including grounds and facility maintenance.\nConducts weekly inspections of parks.\nMonitors contractors’ activity.\nTracks inventory of supplies and orders as needed.\nPerforms general grounds maintenance work if needed.\nSupervises pesticide and herbicide applications.\nPerforms related work as assigned.\nMinimum Education and Experience Requirements:\nRequires High School diploma or GED equivalent.\nRequires two years of experience in building and/or grounds maintenance or closely related experience.\nPhysical Demands/Work Environment:\nPhysical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.\nUnavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.\nThe work is typically performed in a motor vehicle and outdoor setting. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.\nThe work is typically performed in the field including possible inclement weather conditions. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, grease, machinery and chemicals.
