This position is a security sensitive position responsible for receiving, accurately entering, accessing, and safeguarding confidential/security sensitive law enforcement information. This position requires sound judgment, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nEssential job duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following:\nAnswer phone calls and direct calls to the appropriate person and/or take messages.\nReceives, processes, and distributes, criminal and civil warrants; enters into local, state, and national computer databases.\nProcesses returns of executed criminal and civil warrants.\nReceives, updates, and enters data regarding persons or warrants.\nCoordinates and schedules extradition trips for deputies to transport.\nDispatch deputies for various calls.\nOrganizes and maintains files related to operations.\nPerform all other duties as assigned. \nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nApplicants must meet the following criteria:\nPossess a valid Texas driver’s license.\nHave a high school diploma or equivalent.\nAbility to speak, read, and write the English language in a clear and understandable fashion.\nExceptional oral and written communication skills.\nProficient computer skills (Microsoft products).\nSkill in multi-tasking and prioritizing.\nStrong interpersonal skills, able to work cooperatively with others.\nAbility to keep sensitive information confidential.\nAbility to organize, compile, and record information accurately.\nAbility to perform research utilizing a variety of paper-based and electronic sources.\nAbility to operate common office equipment including but not limited to computer, photocopier, and fax machine.\nSuccessfully pass a background review.\nSuccessfully pass an interview board.\nSuccessfully complete and pass the full access TCIC/NCIC operator course.\nBe able to work under adverse conditions and during unusual hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and scheduled/unscheduled overtime.\nCompensation: $18.50 Hourly\nNotice to Applicants:\nThe Galveston County Sheriff's Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
