Whether working on highways and bridges or traffic engineering, our team excels in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern, multimodal roadway systems and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel for all.\nPerforms advanced civil, municipal, and complex transportation engineering work in the functional area of Construction Services for GFT on assigned projects to ensure contracted design and construction obligations are achieved in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Work requires contact with government officials and private entities.\nIn this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:\nConducts and documents project meetings with clients. \nManages construction field personnel, including teaming partners. \nPrepares construction contracts and cost estimates. \nPrepares and monitors project schedules and budgets. \nPrepares and issues reports and correspondence. \nApproves quantities for measurement and payment purposes. \nApproves construction payment applications. \nNegotiates and approves construction change orders. \nResolves technical issues. \nPerforms constructability reviews and value engineering studies. \nLeads Risk Management assessments. \nPrepares and monitors Quality Control and Assurance Plans. \nDevelops Standard Operating Procedures.\nManages clients and project teams.\nResponsible for financial and production success of Construction Service-related projects.\nAssists with and/or lead the planning, coordinating and execution of Construction Service projects.\nMay oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously.\nOversees and schedules construction engineering inspection (CEI) activities.\nEvaluates project issues and produces solutions to address deficiency issues providing insight to the client.\nManages Construction Service equipment inventory and maintenance.\nAssists with development and review of project proposals.\nAssists with internal training.\nCompetency and awareness of safety compliance and programs.\nPerforms other job responsibilities as assigned.\nWhat you will bring to our firm:\n15 - 20 years civil engineering, construction engineering, or related engineering experience.\nValid US driver’s license. This position requires work with airports, municipalities, railroads and other clients that require criminal background history checks. \nWhat we prefer you bring:\nBachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or related discipline, from an ABET accredited school.\nValid US driver’s license. This position requires driving to projects and related meetings.\nLicensed Professional Engineer in the State of South Carolina (Professional Engineers licensed in another state in the United States, but not currently licensed in the State of South Carolina, must (1) meet the license requirements of the State of South Carolina Labor and Licensing Board, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the State of South Carolina within six (6) months of the date of hire).\nMust also have competencies in:\nApplicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations specific to area of responsibility for safeguarding information and information technology related systems.\nApplicable plans, specifications, and estimate preparation, review, processing and compliance requirements.\nConstruction engineering policies and requirements.\nConstruction phasing and sequencing on interstate widening projects.\nComplex bridge construction over deep waterways.\nComplex interstate interchange system construction.\nWork zone traffic control and traffic management.\nPayment concepts, methods, policies, and requirements.\nApplying engineering principles, practices, and methods in job responsibilities.\nNegotiating settlement of differences without damaging relationships, applying effective questioning and listening techniques to determine other parties’ positions in a direct and diplomatic manner.\nSpeaking to present images and ideas in a clear, concise, organized, and interesting manner to optimize audience understanding and keep the group focused.\nExercise logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; make decisions that support business objectives and goals.\nEstablishes plans and setting objectives and goals that support the overall business strategy/results, anticipating and adjusting for problems/roadblocks.\nCompensation: The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $180,000.
