In this role, you will be responsible for building the foundational data and services for AI Products and Insights team. You will closely collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists and Cloud teams to expand the reach and accuracy of our Agentic and Search Solutions.\nWhat you’ll do:\nTechnical Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance for medium-sized initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable and incorporate strategic considerations.\nSystem Architecture: Contribute actively to architectural discussions and design sound, maintainable web services using Java or Python.\nEngineering Standards: Promote organizational values within the team and ensure technical decisions align with broader team goals and best practices.\nAPI Development: Build and performance tune highly scalable APIs \nDeveloping Search Algorithms: Implementing advanced search algorithms leveraging search engine features such as vector search, natural language processing, personalization, and other state-of-the-art technologies. \nAI-Powered Retrieval: Build and optimise reusable lexical, vector, and hybrid search services that provide relevant contextual information for AI products and agentic experiences, collaborating with Data Scientists to improve retrieval quality.\nAgentic Search Integration: Develop reusable search tools and APIs for integration into agent frameworks, enabling AI agents to retrieve information and combine search capabilities within multi-step workflows. Partner with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Cloud teams to deliver scalable agentic search solutions.\nRelevancy Model Development: Collaborating with machine learning and data science teams to optimize relevancy models that improve user search experiences, incorporating feedback loops and behavioral data. \nSearch Result Tuning Based on Business Metrics: Collaborating with product and business teams to fine-tune search results to align with business goals like conversion, engagement, and retention\nPerformance Tuning: Continuously testing and optimizing the performance of the search engine to improve query response times, accuracy, and relevancy based on defined metrics. \nIntegration: Integrating the search infrastructure with other services and data platforms to enable seamless data retrieval, indexing, and search performance monitoring. \nData Pipeline Management: Developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines to ensure efficient data flow, low-latency indexing, and real-time search capabilities. \nData Analysis: Analyzing search patterns, user interactions, and relevancy metrics to refine search algorithms and improve the overall user experience. \nData & ML Integration: Design and implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines and ML Engineering workflows that meet performance and reliability requirements.\nStrategic Communication: Develop strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to various stakeholders and influence technical direction at the Business Unit level.\nMentorship: Actively seek opportunities to mentor junior and peer engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.\nWhat you’ll need:\nMust have:\nExperience: 3-6 years of professional experience in the IT industry.\nAPI Development: Experience and strong knowledge about REST APIs, API performance / scaling and best practices\nAdvanced Engineering: Strong command of Data Structures, Algorithms, and Design Patterns to build moderately complex and efficient systems.\nBackend Mastery: Significant experience developing and maintaining production-scale, customer-facing web services.\n Search & Storage: Hands-on exposure and solid understanding of different storage engines (SQL and NoSQL, Search Engines).\nCloud & DevOps: Familiarity with AWS environments and a working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.\nNice to have/opportunity to learn:\nData Engineering: Practical experience managing the data lifecycle through ETL/ELT processes and deploying ML models into production.\nExperience with Agentic Workflows or AI-driven automation.\nProven track record of improving team velocity through better tooling or process improvements.\nWho are we?\nAt Gartner, Inc.
