Confer with the unit management to plan scheduled preventative maintenance programs and routine maintenance and repairs.Main Duties and Responsibilities:\n Operational Activities\n Responsible for direct communications with the regions units and their respective transportation departments.\n Evaluate unit fleets and write up maintenance problems and communicate to management\n Actively supervise the truck mechanics. This includes, but not limited to, actively training the mechanics and assisting them in emergencies or whenever necessary.\n Oversee the ordering of all major stock orders and assist with regular parts ordering.\n Identify spare vehicles and coordinate the most efficient use of these vehicles.\n Develop training programs for Company mechanics using vendor supplied\nmaterial and training aids.\n Aid Fleet Managers in developing vehicle maintenance contracts and programs for non-owned garages.\n Review and perform physical inspection of all vehicles in their assigned area.\n Review quality of work performed by outside vendors.\n Work closely with third party vendors and evaluate the quality of work performed and pricing.\n Responsible to secure regulatory compliance in all maintenance facilities and maintain environmental and safe working conditions Administration\n Monitor and approve vendor invoices.\n Provide assistance in locating hard to get parts for other units.\n Assist with warranty work recovery, especially new vehicle equipment warranties and obtain maximum refunds for parts and labor costs during warranty periods\n Must actively participate in all month end inventories.\n Insure all Gate Gourmet Policies and Procedures are followed.\n Insure timely and accurate reports are distributed as required.\n Interview outside mechanics for competency, quality and price for work performed.\n Assist with training of company mechanics.\n Identify and track all costs for the area of responsibility.\n Evaluate units to determine requirements for maintenance agreements.\n Assist in the transfer of equipment between units.\n Identify high cost equipment items and assist management with budgeting on these items.\n Evaluate work orders and purchases, check quality of repairs and preventative maintenance in order to ensure that all maintenance operations are as efficient and economically operated as possible.\n Authorize all vehicle repairs over $500.00, in advance, to ensure repairs are as economical as possible.\n Assist with the selling of company owned vehicles.\n Perform employee evaluations annually.QualificationsEducation:\nHigh School diploma\nVehicle/GSE school degree\nAdditional degrees and or experience is a plusWork Experience:\nMust have 5 years of experience working with the operations, maintenance, or administration of fleets of vehicles in a supervisory capacity\nMust have strong background in all types of vehicle maintenanceTechnical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)\nMust be able to manage large volumes of information in a fast paced environment\nMust have strong leadership skills and the ability to successfully manage a staff of mechanics\nMust have excellent time management skills\nBasic computer skills are required\nMust be proficient in the use of all standard Microsoft applications\nCommercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plusLanguage / Communication Skills:\nMust have excellent written and oral communication skills\nJob DimensionsGeographic Responsibility:Type of Employment: Full-timeTravel %: Ability to travel at any time, when necessaryExemption Classification: ExemptInternal Relationships:External Relationships:Work Environment / Requirements of the Job:\nMust be available 24/7 for maintenance issues that may arise\nMust be able to perform emergency vehicle maintenance if necessaryBudget / Revenue Responsibility: (Local Currency)Organization StructureDirect Line Manager (Title): Varies by unit (“VP, Ops, BU”; “BU leader”; or “General Manager” Dotted Line Manager (Title, if applicable): Number of Direct Reports: Varies by unit, up to 15 (“Vehicle Maintenance”; “Tech, Ops, Vehicle”; “Mechanic Helper”; “Asst, MS, Ops, Vehicle”; “Spec, Ops, Maintenance”)Number of Dotted Line Reports:Estimated Total Size of Team:gategroup Competencies Required to be Successful in the Job:\nThinking - Information Search and analysis & problem resolution skills\nEngaging - Understanding others, Team Leadership and Developing People\nInspiring - Influencing and building relationships, Motivating and Inspiring, Communicating effectively\nAchieving - Delivering business results under pressure, Championing Performance Improvement and Customer FocusDemonstrated Values to be Successful in the Position\nEmployees at gategroup are expected to live our Values of Excellence, Integrity, Passion and Accountability.
