Regardless of age, location or background, genuine people everywhere should be able to digitally prove who they are and where they live.\nAbout the team - AI & Automation Team\nThe AI & Automation team sits within the Global Service & Operations function, reporting through to the Chief Operating Officer at GBG.\nThe team is responsible for delivering GBG’s business-wide AI & Automation transformation, turning identified opportunities into practical solutions that improve efficiency, support business growth and enhance the experience of our customers and team members.\nWorking closely with business functions, Technology, Data and Infosec, the team focuses on delivering measurable business value through scalable, secure and reusable solutions.\nThe Role - Lead AI Technical Architect\nThe Lead AI Technical Architect is responsible for leading the technical architecture, solution design and engineering delivery of GBG’s AI and automation transformation programme.\nThe role will translate prioritised business opportunities into practical technical solutions, establish reusable architecture and engineering standards, and provide technical leadership to the central AI & Automation team.\nThis is a hands-on technical leadership role, combining architectural expertise with accountability for successful technical implementation. The role will ensure solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable and capable of delivering measurable business outcomes.\nWhat you will do\nLead the technical architecture and solution design for AI and automation opportunities across GBG, translating business requirements into practical, deliverable solutions.\nAssess and recommend the most appropriate technical approach, including AI, conventional automation, workflow optimisation, integration and existing enterprise capabilities.\nEstablish reusable solution patterns, components and integration approaches that can be applied across multiple business functions, reducing duplication and delivery effort.\nProvide technical leadership and direction to the central AI & Automation engineering team, including permanent employees and contractors.\nTake ownership of technical estimates, engineering quality, solution design decisions and technical delivery readiness.\nRemain actively involved in technical delivery through prototyping, design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting and resolution of complex engineering challenges.\nWork closely with the project manager to plan technical delivery, allocate engineering capacity, manage dependencies and meet agreed delivery milestones.\nPartner with business owners and functional SMEs to understand operational requirements, validate solution designs and ensure solutions deliver the intended outcomes.\nWork with Technology, data and infosec teams to ensure solutions meet GBG’s architecture, security, privacy and governance requirements. \nEstablish appropriate engineering standards covering testing, AI reliability, human oversight, monitoring, deployment and ongoing support.\nEvaluate existing platforms, tools and 3rd party solutions, promoting reuse and avoiding unnecessary technology complexity or cost.\nEnsure solutions are successfully deployed into production, with appropriate documentation, operational ownership and support arrangements. \nIdentify and address technical dependencies and enabling capabilities required to support future opportunities.\nDevelop internal engineering capability through coaching, knowledge sharing and consistent technical practices.\nSupport the measurement of solution performance and effectiveness, enabling business functions to validate and realise expected benefits.\nSkills we're looking for\nProven experience designing and delivering enterprise AI and automation solutions from concept through to live.\nStrong solution architecture expertise covering AI technologies, workflow automation, system integration, APIs and cloud-based applications.\nHands-on experience implementing AI solutions using large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI-assisted workflows or agentic capabilities.\nTaking strategy into execution: Able to translate business priorities into practical technical solutions and drive them through to successful implementation\nDelivery focused: Takes ownership of technical outcomes, maintains momentum and balances pace with quality and sustainability.\nPractical experience with enterprise automation technologies and integrating solutions across existing business systems.\nStrong engineering knowledge, including solution design, testing, deployment, monitoring and operational support.\nExperience leading technical teams and providing architectural direction while remaining actively involved in engineering delivery.\nAbility to design reusable and scalable solutions that support multiple business processes and functions.\nStrong understanding of infosec, data protection, AI reliability and appropriate governance controls.\nExperience working in complex enterprise environments with multiple technology platforms and stakeholders.\nAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly to business leaders and non-technical stakeholders.\nHands-on experience with MS Azure, Power platform, copilot studio, python, .NET or similar enterprise technologies.\nMicrosoft Foundry Experience (formerly Azure AI Studio) desirable\nTo find out more\nAs an equal opportunity employer, we are dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.
