Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and Wednesday, Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.\nDEPARTMENT OVERVIEW\nThe GBH Archives catalogs, tracks, organizes, and preserves the media used to create GBH productions. The GBH Archives holds physical and digital media and paper records, including materials that need to be retained for production, legal, financial, historical, or administrative purposes.\nGBH Archives also collaborates with the Library of Congress to coordinate the American Archive of Public Broadcasting, a national effort to preserve and make accessible historically significant public radio and television programming that has aired over the past 70+ years.\nJOB OVERVIEW\nThe GBH Archives is offering a part-time paid internship for a student in an accredited undergrad or master’s program. The intern will work with members of the GBH Archives team, focused on preservation of archival CDs for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting\nApplicants must provide a short cover letter explaining their interest in archives and metadata. If applicable, letters should note interest and experience with libraries, audiovisual materials, public media, and/or data science.\nApplicants must be willing to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. Regular working hours will be chosen by the intern and their manager.\nGOALS & OBJECTIVES\nTest and implement workflows for preserving CDs in the American Archive of Public Broadcasting\nPerform item-level cataloging of audio in the American Archive of Public Broadcasting\nBecome acquainted with the PBCore metadata schema\nCreate and correct automatically generated transcripts from public media programs\nLearn about basic machine learning concepts and workflows\nMeet and receive mentorship from GBH Archives staff\nWrite a capstone blog post\nSKILLS & EXPERIENCE\nExperience working with optical media\nWorking knowledge of the basic archival principles for arrangement, description, and access. \nInterest in data processing or software development. \nStrong attention to detail.\nEDUCATION\nMust be a current student in an accredited undergrad or graduate program\nGraduate coursework in Library Science and/or Archives strongly preferred\nJOB-STATUS\nPaid Internship $17/hour (Part-time, 15hr/wk)\nINTERNSHIP OVERVIEW\nGBH internships provide students with valuable work experience and real-world knowledge across many fields of study, from TV and radio production to web design, accounting, law, and other administrative areas.\nINTERNSHIP PROGRAM\nDates: January 25th to April 16th\nCandidates must have their own computer and access to Wifi.\nCandidates must be in an Undergrad or Grad program and have work authorization for the United States.\nLOCATION\nOnsite - 1 Guest Street, Boston, MA 02135\nTo learn more about our program, follow us on Instagram:\nhttps://www.instagram.com/gbhinterns/\nSalary Range\n$17.00 - $17.00Compensation offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and internal pay equity.\nGBH is an equal opportunity employer.
