Working at the heart of the engineering function, you will oversee vehicle maintenance documentation, engineering standards, engineering change processes and vehicle-to-infrastructure compatibility activities, ensuring compliance with ROGS 2006 (as amended) and relevant industry standards.\nSupporting a range of strategic projects, you will drive the development of effective systems and processes that enable delivery on time and within budget. Success in the role will be achieved through strong stakeholder engagement, working collaboratively with both internal and external partners to build effective, long-term relationships across the rail industry.\nA key focus of the position will be supporting the delivery of ETCS-fitted locomotives, acting as the link between design houses and infrastructure managers to ensure vehicle and infrastructure compatibility is demonstrated and evidenced throughout every stage of the project lifecycle.\nThe salary on offer is up to £65,000. This role can be based in any of our office locations, Peterborough, London or Doncaster.\nClosing date: 19th October\nMain Responsibilities\nMaintain and keep maintenance instructions up to date and in line with best practice whilst incorporating new technology advances.\nManage and review incidents and produce reports.\nManage Engineering Standards including updates from legislations and business requirements. \nWork closely with the Asset/Production teams to identify modifications, maintenance updates and safety improvements to GBRf ECM traction and rollingstock.\nManaging Engineering Change projects\nProduce / Manage KPI and reports.\nDevelop and manage compatibility tracker.\nDevelop and maintain a solid relationship with Networks Rail’s compatibility team.\nComplete requisite documentation and submit in a timely fashion to ensure compatibility requests are converted in line with business objectives.\nDevelop 1:1 relationships with key individuals within the GBRf functions ensuring communication and feedback is maintained at the highest level. \nLiaise with Contract and Sales managers to identify new work streams.\nWork closely with the Planning department regarding route restrictions and prohibitions.\nEnsure Statements of Compatibility Files are reviewed and authorised, and suppliers receive relevant documents.\nConfirm the supplier registers finalised Statement of Compatibility with Rolling Stock Library (R2)\nBe the single point of contact for all compatibility enquiries to the point at which it becomes business as usual\nLiaise with 3rd party design house as required to ensure projects are delivered to plan.\nAttend meetings as required to support the wider business needs.\nProcess Engineering Change requests through the Engineering Change Process.\nHold delegated authority for Engineering Change, RIS-2453-RST Vehicle Registration activities on R2. \nReport on KPI’s applicable to Compatibility and Engineering Change.\nSkills and Experience \nManagement experience gained within the rail industry.\nStakeholder management experience (internal and external)\nEffective communicator at all levels\nUnderstanding of contracts, budgets, reporting systems.\nProject plan methodology\nEssential Qualifications\nEngineering Degree or similar experience\nAbout GB Railfreight\nGB Railfreight are proud to be one of the UK's fastest-growing rail freight companies, recognised for our reliability, growth, and commitment to delivering high-quality service.
