In this role, you will help save and improve the lives of animals by coordinating with rescue groups, supporting foster families, and promoting animal welfare throughout our community.\nWhy Join Us?\nWe don’t just offer a job - we offer a career with fantastic benefits, including:\nAmazing retirement package to secure your future\nAffordable medical insurance to keep you and your family covered\nGenerous paid time off so you can recharge\nFREE life insurance & long-term disability for peace of mind\nFREE parking - because the little things matter too!\nWhat You’ll Do:\nMaintain rescue and foster databases along with all communication and correspondence\nManage the Animal Resource Center’s (ARC) Facebook page, including posting adoptable animals, responding to messages, and promoting events\nDesign and implement strategies to recruit and retain rescues and fosters\nProvide information and counseling to rescue partners and fosters about specific animals\nProperly implant microchips in both ARC and citizen-owned animals\nNetwork animals and develop plans that promote live release, awareness, and public education\nAssist in planning and attending off-site events to promote the ARC and adoptable animals\nCross-train with administrative staff and perform other duties as assigned\nTrain and supervise fosters to ensure animal well-being and successful placements\nServe as a liaison with animal rescue groups and community partners\nGreet and assist customers in the adoption lobby\nMatch rescues, fosters, and adopters with suitable animals based on lifestyle and needs\nMonitor foster assignments including medical cases\nMaintain high-quality customer service and responsiveness on the ARC Facebook page\nRepresent the division at public meetings or events as needed\nRespond to public health emergencies, evenings or weekends as required\nWork collaboratively to support the mission, vision, and values of the organization\nWhat We’re Looking For:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required\nExperience in animal training or advanced handling in a shelter environment preferred\n1+ year of experience in veterinary medicine\nKnowledge of domestic animal breeds, animal behavior, safe handling, proper housing, and common health issues (e.g., neonatal kittens)\nFamiliarity with social media platforms, especially Facebook and Twitter\nValid Texas Driver’s License, plus satisfactory DMV/MVR history\nOutstanding customer service, writing, and public speaking skills\nProficiency in MS Office and ability to create documents\nWillingness to work evenings and weekends as needed\nCompliance with GCHD immunization and ICS training policies\nMust pass criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening\nEquivalent education and experience may be considered\nApplication Deadline: Open Until Filled\nNo phone calls, please\nADA/EEO/DFWP\nOur Mission:Protecting and Promoting the One Health of Galveston County\nEqual Employment Opportunity Statement\nGalveston County Health District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity in the workplace.
