Job Summary

Plans and implements the design, manufacture, installation and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, wiring and power systems/devices, for the generation, transmission and control of electric power. Broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies for the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets. ***Onsite at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location. This role is eligible for a referral bonus***

Essential Functions

• Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.
• Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.
• Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
• Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.

Additional Responsibilities

• Designs and develops new brushed and multiphase brushless DC electric motors.
• Performs design experiments related to motor designs and develops test methods, from concept to planning and execution stage.
• Conducts motor performance predictions by analyses of actual data and through the development of design related algorithms in addition to the existing methods.

Required Qualifications

• Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience
• Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required
• Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.

Pay Range (USD)

$105,000-$142,000

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
