The engineer must be able to balance immediate production needs with longer-term process discipline, communicate clearly across functions, and escalate issues that fall outside standard limits. On 3rd shift, this often means serving as a key technical resource for the operation with greater independence and ownership in real-time problem solving.\nJob Description\nShift / Schedule Expectations\nThis position supports 3rd shift operations\nTypical hours are 10:30 pm-7:30 am\nRegular onsite support is required during assigned shift\nMay require overtime, weekend support, or schedule flexibility based on production needs\nRequires effective communication with 1st and 2nd shift teams to support shift handoff and issue continuity\nRoles and Responsibilities\nProvide daily manufacturing engineering support for engine assembly operations on 3rd shift\nSupport assembly processes by resolving technical issues, process constraints, tooling issues, nonconformances, and build interruptions\nWork directly with assembly technicians and operators on the shop floor to troubleshoot problems and implement practical solutions\nInterpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, process sheets, torque requirements, fits/clearances, and assembly sequencing requirements\nDevelop, revise, and improve manufacturing processes, standard work, tooling, and production documentation\nDrive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost\nLead or support root cause investigations, corrective actions, and escape prevention related to assembly defects or process variation\nPartner with quality and operations to ensure compliance with engine assembly requirements, inspection requirements, and controlled process standards\nSupport implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives such as waste reduction, cycle time improvement, process simplification, and error-proofing\nEvaluate manufacturability and process risks and escalate issues when product or process integrity may be impacted\nSupport new product introduction, process changes, tool changes, and production readiness activities as needed\nCommunicate clearly across shifts and functions to ensure continuity of operations and effective issue resolution\nUse sound judgment to make timely decisions within established engineering and quality requirements, while escalating higher-risk issues appropriately\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related technical field (OR High school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, mechanical assembly, aircraft maintenance, engine assembly, engine overhaul/repair, aerospace production, or other closely related technical field)\nDesired Characteristics\nStrong working knowledge of:Blueprint reading and engineering drawing interpretation\nGD&T\nTooling, fixtures, torque tools, precision measurement, and mechanical assembly methods\nProcess control and configuration control\nRoot cause problem solving and corrective action\nQuality requirements, defect prevention, and escape prevention\nStandard work and lean manufacturing principles\n\nExperience with nonconformance disposition support, inspection findings, rework processes, and deviation management\nFamiliarity with manufacturing documentation, routers, work instructions, process sheets, and revision-controlled technical data\nExperience collaborating with shop operations, quality, and design engineering to resolve build issues\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment and make decisions with urgency and discipline\nStrong communication skills and ability to work respectfully with technicians, mechanics, and cross-functional teams\nHands-on, practical mindset with strong shop-floor engagement\nAble to connect engineering requirements to real-world assembly execution\nStrong mechanical aptitude and product knowledge\nEffective at troubleshooting and resolving problems under production pressure\nRespectful, collaborative, and willing to learn from experienced technicians and operators\nClear communicator who shares information across teams and shifts\nContinuous improvement mindset with a focus on safety, quality, and delivery\nHigh integrity, sound judgment, and disciplined decision-making in a regulated aerospace environment\nThe base pay range for this position is $92,000-$105,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.
