As an Entry Level FPGA Design/Verification Engineer, you will support the full FPGA design lifecycle across Xilinx, Microsemi, and other device families, following the DO-254 design process. Based in Grand Rapids, MI, you will work in a team environment. Your work will take FPGA designs from requirements through simulation, documentation, and integration into circuit card assemblies. This role offers hands-on ownership of well-defined tasks with room to grow. You will use your technical foundation and judgment to complete standard design and verification work, flex your task sequence as priorities change, and ask senior engineers for guidance when issues fall outside established procedures.\nJob Description\nIn this role you will:\nDesign, simulate, and verify FPGAs, and manage requirements using the applicable requirements tool.\nSupport any phase of the FPGA design lifecycle on Xilinx, Microsemi, and other product families.\nPrepare the documentation needed for product development and DO-254 certification.\nTest and integrate the FPGA into a circuit card assembly.\nContribute to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems, including technical improvements to existing products and components.\nExecute standard technical tasks under established instructions and work routines. Re-sequence tasks as work situations change.\nResolve issues that call for good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consult senior team members when issues fall outside defined parameters.\nExplain technical information clearly to teammates and, for customer-facing work, serve as an interface between the customer and GE.\nBroaden your knowledge of your technical discipline and build an understanding of how your team's work fits with other teams. You take care with the quality of your own work and the work of others on the team. You also see how your FPGA fits into the circuit card assembly and the larger system.\nYou are curious and eager to learn. You communicate clearly in writing and in conversation. You work well within a defined framework, and you know when to ask for help. You document, plan, and follow through on your commitments.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of experience in the relevant Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).\n0-1 years of professional engineering experience, including internships and co-ops.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Zynq and PolarFire devices in system-on-chip or system-on-module applications.\nKnowledge of high-speed data interfaces and functions used in computing applications, such as PCIe, AXI bus, SERDES, and DMA.\nKnowledge of avionics interfaces and protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, ARINC 664, and Ethernet.\nExperience with VHDL test benches, UVM test benches, and VxWorks C software.\nFamiliarity with the DO-254 design process for avionics hardware.\nStrong oral and written communication skills.\nAbility to document, plan, market, and execute programs.\nGood interpersonal skills and willingness to lead a junior team.\nThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).\nAdditional Information\nGE Aerospace offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
