Our team is responsible for design, manufacturing, and assembly of the engines on which the military depends, along with a vast array of services and support to approximately 30,000 engines in the field.\nJob Description Summary\nHave you ever wondered what makes a turbofan engine so cool? Some people think it's the fan, or the high- or low-pressure turbines, or the combustor, or even the augmentor (on military engines). \nOn my team, we think it's the logic and software that stitch all those subsystems together to form a cohesive operating machine - one that can readily respond to pilot inputs while still providing safe and fuel-efficient thrust to complete the mission. This logic also provides diagnostic and prognostic capabilities to better support our customers' fleet needs.\nIn this role we design, develop, validate and certify new engine control strategies to deliver innovative products for exciting Military applications; we also support legacy, fielded product needs -- investigating field events and evaluating potential solutions to provide more robust, reliable engine operation.\nIf you have a passion for delivering integrated hardware and software solutions I'd encourage you to come check out some of the really interesting projects that we are delivering.\nRoles and Responsibilities\nIn this role you can expect to have the following responsibilities depending on the phase(s) of the program(s) that you are supporting:\nExecute the design, development, and test of advanced Controls Systems technologies to meet business standards and program / product requirements.\nWork closely with supporting and enabling organizations to deliver a seamless, well-integrated solution.\nProvide technical leadership on the assigned project.\nDocument and communicate results of technical data generated.\nShare engineering information and promote open dialogue.\nParticipate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.\nPrepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.\nManage internal and external suppliers.\nWork with teams to address organizational initiatives.\nProvide timely communications on significant issues or developments.\nAssure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.\nTrack project progress and report out on resource needs, spend, and progress towards deliverables.\nMentor other engineers in Controls Systems and Transient Design disciplines\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in an Engineering field from an accredited university or college\nMinimum of 3 years of experience related to Aircraft Engine Controls Systems and/or Software Engineering\nThis role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance.\nPreferred Qualifications\nActive Secret U.S. government security clearance\nDemonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems\nSkilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts\nDemonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends\nHas the ability to analyze impact of technology choices\nFamiliarity with MATLAB, Simulink, Python or NPSS Simulation tools. Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, BEACON\nAbility to work collaboratively in a structured team environment\nPassion to develop Aircraft Engine Controls methodologies including hardware & software integration, requirements development and documentation, logic design, development and validation, and providing support for the product software release process\nAbility to take ownership of small and medium sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members\nEnsures understanding of issues and presents clear rationale. Able to speak to mutual needs and win-win solutions. Uses two-way communication to influence outcomes and ongoing results.\nIdentifies misalignments with goals, objectives, and work direction against the organizational strategy and makes suggestions to course-correct\nContinuously measures deliverables of self and team against scheduled commitments.
