SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job Description\nThe Engineering Technician's primary duty is to meet production objectives by conducting special test processes of electronic devices. Responsibilities include administering functional tests along with troubleshooting at a system level down to the component level and maintaining records of the mentioned special test processes. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step-by-step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.\nIdeal for transitioning military talent with electronics test, diagnostics, avionics, or communications maintenance experience who are comfortable following technical procedures, using sophisticated test equipment, troubleshooting to the component level, and documenting results in quality systems.\nRoles and Responsibilities:\nPerform special test following test specifications and procedures for high volume manufacturing\nSet up and perform test with minimal direction using sophisticated equipment - perform analyses and diagnostics of process, products, computers, and test equipment used in systems verification\nTroubleshoot electronics systems, circuit card assemblies to component level with analog, digital, and microprocessor-based circuits, assemblies, and test equipment\nCapability in the assembly/dis-assembly of test equipment and product\nPrescribe rework instructions for products needing repair\nMaintain product test records in quality data tracking system\nEnsure product compliance and quality\nAttend and participate in team meetings\nBasic Qualifications:\nActive Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military service\nAssociate's degree in an electronics technology discipline from an accredited university or college (or High School diploma / GED with at least two years of experience in Testing and/or Troubleshooting)\nActive security clearance\nDesired Characteristics:\nExperience in high volume production environment\nExperience troubleshooting analog and digitalcircuits\nExperienced with general purpose test instruments (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, phase angle voltmeters and automated test equipment)\nAbleto fault isolate electronics to the component level\nExperienced in functional testing and environmental stress screening of class 3 electronics systems\nAble to follow technical procedures and specifications\nAble to read and understand technical documentation such as schematic diagrams, drawings, and parts lists\nExperience using hand tools for electronics disassembly andtroubleshooting\nKnowledge of IPC-A-610 & J-STD-001 soldering specifications\nBasic understanding of embedded software\nFamiliar with Electric Static Discharge precautions\nAbility to work under minimum supervision by being motivated and a self-starter\nKeen attention to detail\nProficient with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and PDF Viewers\nThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
