Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.\nRole Overview:\nExpertise in design for manufacturability and provides guidance and feedback on part designs through design evolution phase.\nLeads industrialization of new parts at suppliers, including review of manufacturing plans, PFMEAs, control plans, process flows, and validation/qualification plans (e.g., FAIs, PPAPs where applicable).\nSupports in supplier selection and sourcing strategies based on technical capability, and risk; partners with sourcing owners to ensure supplier choices provide long-term value.\nSupports source changes and transitions, including technical due diligence, process transfer, and risk mitigation plans; develops lower-performing suppliers through on-site support, corrective action plans, and capability-building initiatives.\nProactively identifies barriers to quality, and resolves them in collaboration with Fulfilment, Commercial, Quality, and Engineering teams; drives structured problem solving using methodologies such as 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D, or similar tools.\nHas manufacturing expertise across multiple related part families and processes, with deep domain expertise in complex component manufacturing (e.g., rotating hardware, structures, casings, or precision assemblies, as applicable).\nGuides and influences suppliers’ performance based on manufacturing expertise, focusing on process robustness, yield improvement, cycle time reduction, and defect reduction.\nDemonstrates deep understanding of conventional, non-conventional, and special processes, Special processes: heat treatment, coatings, NDT, surface treatments, etc.\nEnsures compliance including safety, quality, and special process approvals.\nMay mentor junior manufacturing engineers or supplier quality/manufacturing resources, sharing best practices and supporting skill development across the team\nDeveloping specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.\nHas in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market\nUses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
