Based in Rockledge, FL (with an additional posting location in Bohemia, NY), you will work in a multidisciplinary team. Your analysis will guide the design of hypersonic components from proof-of-concept through manufacturing and test. This role has meaningful autonomy and visibility. You will use your technical depth, engineering judgment, and communication skills to lead design reviews, translate analysis results into design decisions, and keep programs on track against technical, cost, and schedule goals.\nJob Description\nIn this role you will:\nLead thermal-structural analysis of prototype components and subsystems to support rapid development of hypersonic propulsion systems.\nBuild and run thermal-structural ANSYS/FEA models, working with teammates to define appropriate boundary conditions and constraints. These give a detailed account of each component's thermal-structural response.\nApply engineering principles to assess the integrity and thermal-structural performance of components and subsystems, and use the results to guide design.\nPerform lifetime/cycle, reliability, and elastic-plastic analyses as program needs require.\nHelp the team develop thermal-structural systems from proof-of-concept to final manufacturable components, including the transition to manufacturing and testing.\nPartner with Integrated Product Teams to lead analysis and deliver informed recommendations. These help the team develop and verify novel design solutions that meet program requirements (technical, cost, schedule).\nDocument and communicate assumptions, inputs, and results to multidisciplinary teams for review.\nLead design reviews and prepare technical reports and presentations for the team and, when needed, the customer.\nMentor and coach team members in thermal-structural analysis methods.\nThe Ideal Candidate\nYou are an experienced thermal-structural analyst who is comfortable owning complex analysis and explaining it clearly. You have deep FEA expertise, especially in ANSYS. You also understand how analysis fits into the broader design, manufacturing, and test process.\nYou are analytical and a critical thinker. You challenge existing processes, prioritize well, and learn quickly. You work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team across multiple sites, and you lead through clear communication, sound decisions, and collaboration.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.\n10+ years of thermal/structural analysis experience, with expertise in FEA, particularly ANSYS.\nStrong understanding of engineering principles and how to apply them to technical tasks.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.\nAbility to travel up to 10%.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.\nU.S. citizenship required. This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions, and GE will require proof of status.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.\nExperience in the high-speed aerospace propulsion industry.\nUnderstanding of compressible flow, structures, and heat transfer, and of aerospace materials for high-temperature applications.\nExperience with lifetime/cycle analysis, reliability assessment, and elastic-plastic analysis.\nPrior experience with NX (CAD).\nStrong communication, decision-making, and collaboration skills, with leadership ability.\nWillingness to mentor staff in thermal-structural analysis methods.\nAnalytical, problem-solving mindset that challenges existing processes.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team across multiple sites.\nQuick learner who prioritizes strategically and stays committed to results.\nThe base pay range for this position is 112,000.00 - 149,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on December 31st, 2026.\nGE Aerospace offers comprehensive benefits and programs to support your health and, along with programs like HealthAhead, your physical, emotional, financial and social wellbeing.
