Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).\nJob Description\nRoles and Responsibilities\nThe Low Level Testing Lead will provide technical and people leadership to the team across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, verification and validation, and certification. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of the team to achieve cost, schedule, and scope commitments, while using metrics and status tracking to monitor progress and drive execution.The role provides technical oversight of software product design, testing activities, and development artifacts, ensuring alignment with program objectives, quality standards, and certification requirements. The Low Level Testing Lead will also provide technical direction to suppliers and support coordination across internal and external stakeholders.Working closely with the engineering team, this leader will maintain a strong level of product and application knowledge and contribute directly to the development and implementation of embedded software solutions, with particular focus on low-level testing activities. The role requires close collaboration with Systems and Software Architects to establish an integrated development approach and coordination with Systems, Hardware, Safety, Security, Quality, Certification, customers, and other project stakeholders.In addition, this position will:Provide input to project plans and support execution against program objectives\nReview and approve software development and test artifacts\nDevelop and execute technical strategies with the team\nPromote a culture of continuous improvement to help the business meet customer commitments\nIncorporate Product Line Engineering (PLE) practices to maximize reuse and standardization\nInclude direct people management responsibilities, such as staffing, coaching, and performance development\nApply strong technical judgment, analytical thinking, and discipline knowledge to execute strategy and solve complex problems\nAct as a resource and mentor for less experienced colleagues\nLead small to medium projects with manageable levels of risk and resource requirements\nBuild alignment across team members and communicate expectations clearly, including handling sensitive people or performance-related matters when needed.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation\nFor roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Embedded SW Development. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience). \nFor roles in USA - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).\nTechnical Leadership\nTechnical leadership experience within a development or research environment\nDemonstrated ability to lead global and/or virtual teams\nFamiliarity with Earned Value Management and Activity Based Management methods\nFamiliarity with Agile Scrum\nExperience working with safety, quality, certification, and configuration management expectations\nExperience coordinating with systems, hardware, software, safety, quality, and certification teams\nAbility to use metrics to track progress, defects, coverage, and execution status\nProcess\nMinimum of 5 years of experience with DO-178B/C avionics software development processes and certification standards\nFamiliarity with DO-254, DO-297, and ARP-4754 certification standards\nApplication of Product Line Engineering (PLE) principles and tools to manage software lifecycle artifacts\nKnowledge of software lifecycle processes, including requirements, design, implementation, verification, validation, and release\nApplication of Lean practices in a software engineering environment\nTechnology\nKnowledge of processing platforms, network products, real-time operating systems, and multi-core processor architectures\nDemonstrated expertise with ARINC-653 integrated modular avionics (IMA) based operating systems\nEmbedded software knowledge in C/C++, real-time systems, microcontrollers, device drivers, interfaces, and hardware/software integration\nStrong experience in low-level testing, including unit testing, module testing, integration testing, and requirements-based verification\nUnderstanding of verification and validation methods, traceability, test coverage, and defect management\nExperience with debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, emulators, JTAG, and debuggers\nFamiliarity with test frameworks and automation for embedded systems\nAbility to review and approve test plans, procedures, scripts, results, and software artifacts\nOther\nInternal Candidate must be LPB1\nDesired Characteristics\n Strong oral and written communication skills.
