The position will also support the evaluation of coatings, finishes, and material technologies that contribute to product durability and appearance.\nThe ideal candidate has foundational knowledge in chemistry, surfactants, materials, or formulation science, inorganic and organic coating technologies, and is excited to apply scientific principles to real-world consumer products.\nThis role will combine chemistry, experimentation, and product development to improve the consumer experience through better cleaning performance, material durability, and innovative appliance coating technologies. You will have the opportunity to learn across multiple technical disciplines while working closely with engineering, materials, and product development teams to develop industry-leading coatings and cleaning solutions for our consumers.\nPosition\nApplications ChemistLocation\nUSA, Louisville, KYHow You'll Create Possibilities\nDesign and conduct laboratory studies to evaluate cleaning chemistry, detergent ingredients, and wash additive performance.\n\nDevelop test methods and performance protocols to assess cleaning efficacy, residue control, material compatibility, and appliance reliability.\n\nCollaborate with engineering teams to understand how detergents and additives interact with appliance systems and wash cycles.\n\nConsult and evaluate coating technologies necessary for appliance products.\n\nSupport benchmarking activities to understand competitive products, technologies, and performance claims.\n\nPartner with suppliers and external laboratories to evaluate new ingredients, formulations, and technologies.\n\nInvestigate product performance issues and support root cause analysis activities.\n\nContribute to sustainability initiatives through evaluation of environmentally responsible ingredients and technologies.\n\nSupport evaluation of appliance coatings, finishes, and appearance-related technologies.\n\nParticipate in cross-functional product development teams to deliver innovative consumer solutionsfor graphics and all organic and inorganic coatings.\n\nDirect communications with all potential coasting and graphics suppliers to understandnew technologiesand coating advancements.\n\nWhat You'll Bring to Our Team\nPhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, ChemicalEngineering, Polymer Science, Colloid Science, ora relatedtechnical field.\n\nStrong understanding of chemistry fundamentals, including surfactants, solution chemistry, polymers, colloids, materials, or related disciplines.\n\n3 or more years ofdemonstratedlaboratory experience through academic research, industry experience, internships, or product development projects.\n\nExperience designing experiments, analyzing data, and drawing technical conclusions.\n\nStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.\n\nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.\n\nPassion for learningnew technologiesand solving complex technical problems.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with surfactants, detergents, cleaning products, personal care products, coatings, polymers, or specialty chemicals.\n\nExperience using analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, spectroscopy, microscopy, titration, or related methods.\n\nKnowledge of consumer product development, formulation science, ormaterialscharacterization.\n\nExperience working with external suppliers, manufacturing partners, or research organizations.\n\nUnderstanding of regulatory, sustainability, or product stewardship considerations\n\nOur Culture\nOur work is centered on our People and Culture as reflected in our Zero Distance philosophy and we recognize the importance of reaffirming our commitment to inclusion and diversity (I&D).
