Unlock your ambition, turn ideas into world-changing realities, and join an organization where every voice makes a difference, and every difference builds a healthier world.\nJob Description\nRoles and Responsibilities\nLead packaging engineering projects from opportunity identification and concept development through design, testing, validation, documentation, and implementation.\nDesign and develop packaging solutions for large and complex products, finished goods, raw materials, plant-to-plant movements, and plant-to-customer shipments.\nSupport packaging requirements for New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfers, Variable Cost Productivity (VCP), safety, sustainability, and packaging improvement projects.\nDevelop packaging concepts, engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models using Creo and AutoCAD.\nSelect appropriate packaging materials and solutions using corrugated materials, wood, foam, plastics, paper, molded fiber, and other relevant packaging systems.\nPlan and execute packaging testing and validation activities using applicable packaging test methods and standards, including ISTA and ASTM.\nEvaluate packaging performance and identify opportunities to improve product protection, safety, cost, sustainability, and supply chain efficiency.\nLead packaging design changes and support appropriate engineering change management and technical documentation.\nWork with packaging suppliers and internal stakeholders to evaluate technical solutions and support packaging qualification and implementation.\nManage multiple packaging projects simultaneously and communicate project status, technical risks, decisions, and actions to relevant stakeholders.\nCollaborate with global and local teams across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Logistics, Product Engineering, and other functions.\nSupport both local and global packaging initiatives and work effectively with stakeholders across the US, Europe, China, and other regions.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, or a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with substantial professional experience in packaging engineering and design amd masters in Packaging management\nMinimum 7 years of relevant professional experience, with significant hands-on experience in packaging engineering, packaging design, and packaging development.\nDemonstrated experience leading packaging projects through design, testing, validation, and implementation.\nHands-on packaging engineering experience for large or complex products; experience limited primarily to small cartons or parcel packaging is not sufficient for this role.\nHands-on proficiency with Creo for packaging or related engineering design and 3D modeling.\nHands-on proficiency with AutoCAD for engineering drawings and packaging-related design work.\nStrong knowledge of packaging materials and systems, including corrugated packaging, wood, foam, plastics, paper, and molded fiber.\nExperience with packaging testing and validation, including working knowledge of applicable ISTA and ASTM standards.\nUnderstanding of sustainable packaging principles and the ability to incorporate sustainability considerations into packaging design decisions.\nDesired Characteristics\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering projects and collaborate effectively with local and global stakeholders.\nStrong technical problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.\nExperience developing packaging solutions for medical devices, industrial equipment, or other large and technically complex products.\nExperience supporting NPI, product transfer, VCP/cost productivity, safety, or supply chain improvement projects.\nExperience developing packaging solutions for both domestic and international transportation and distribution environments.\nExperience working directly with packaging suppliers on design development, testing, qualification, and implementation.\nUnderstanding of sustainable packaging approaches, including material optimization, waste reduction, and alternatives to traditional packaging materials.\nAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a global packaging engineering organization.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects in a global, cross-functional environment.\nInclusion and Diversity\nGE HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer where inclusion matters.
