GE Vernova is an American energy company created in April 2024 when General Electric split into three, taking the power, wind and electrification businesses. It builds and services gas turbines that generate a substantial share of the world's electricity, onshore and offshore wind turbines, grid equipment including transformers and high-voltage transmission, and nuclear technology through GE Hitachi and its BWRX-300 small modular reactor. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the company sits at the centre of two simultaneous demand shocks: the electrification of transport and industry, and the electricity requirements of large-scale artificial intelligence data centres.

Job Description Summary

The role is intended for an engineer with early professional experience who will contribute primarily to BWR core design and nuclear methods work while continuing to build technical depth in reactor physics, neutronics, and thermal-hydraulics applications.

This position is within the Methods, Analysis, and Design team within the Fuels and Digital Engineering Organization. This team is responsible for the application of existing and new methodologies to advance fuel design initiatives. This role will include the usage of nuclear engineering software but also the development of new methodologies and software as necessary.

    • neutronics analysis
    • thermal-hydraulics analysis
    • reactor design methods
  • Experience with at least one of the following types of analysis codes or tools:
    • Neutronics codes such as Serpent, MCNP, LANCR, PANAC, OpenMC or equivalents
    • Thermal-hydraulics and/or systems analysis codes such as ISCOR, the COBRA family, PARCS, TRACG, RELAP
  • In the above experience bullets, the applicant must have sufficient experience that they can perform reactor core design and analysis with minimal oversight.

Eligibility Requirements

The preferred work location for this role is at the GE Vernova center in Warsaw, Poland as an integral part of the global engineering structure of GE Vernova.

Desired Characteristics:

  • M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering
  • Experience with reactor physics methods, core simulation, and fuel performance analysis.
  • Experience with BWR core and fuel design
  • Programming experience with Python, Bash or Batch scripting, and one of Fortran, C, or C++.
