GE Vernova is an American energy company created in April 2024 when General Electric split into three, taking the power, wind and electrification businesses. It builds and services gas turbines that generate a substantial share of the world's electricity, onshore and offshore wind turbines, grid equipment including transformers and high-voltage transmission, and nuclear technology through GE Hitachi and its BWRX-300 small modular reactor. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the company sits at the centre of two simultaneous demand shocks: the electrification of transport and industry, and the electricity requirements of large-scale artificial intelligence data centres.

Job Description Summary

Looking to shape the technical direction of a critical manufacturing organization and help drive engineering excellence across multiple plant sites? Through strong technical leadership, cross-functional partnership, and a relentless focus on innovation, the Engineering & Technology Leader will advance Metem's engineering capability, strengthen manufacturing processes, and support the delivery of safe, reliable, high-quality products for our customers.

The Engineering & Technology Leader provides strategic and operational leadership for engineering, technology, and R&D across multiple plant sites. This role is responsible for setting technical direction, managing complex engineering issues, developing new manufacturing processes, protecting and growing intellectual property, and ensuring that engineering solutions meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives.

This role partners closely with the General Manager, Operations leaders, NPI, and customers to solve complex technical problems, advance manufacturing technology, and build a culture of engineering rigor and continuous improvement across the network.

Job Description

What impact you will make:

As the leader of the engineering and technology function, you will have direct impact on manufacturing capability and innovation across three plant sites - Parsippany, NJ; Allentown, PA; and Százhalombatta, Hungary - and play a critical role in advancing GE Vernova's Gas Power value stream. You will lead and mentor a team of technical experts, manage Metem's R&D efforts in ECM (Electrochemical Machining) and EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), and drive the technology roadmap that positions Metem for long-term competitiveness.

Your leadership will help reduce technical risk, accelerate new program introduction, strengthen problem-solving capability, protect critical intellectual property, and build a more capable and technically aligned engineering organization across the sites.

What you will do:

  • Develop, mentor, and grow a team of technical experts to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and business strategy objectives across three sites.
  • Own strategic engineering projects and technical solutions, delivering EHS, quality, delivery, and cost-savings goals on schedule and within budget.
  • Define the engineering and technology roadmap; develop proposals and solutions for technology choices, methodologies, and project prioritization/selection criteria.
  • Manage Metem's Research & Development efforts for ECM and EDM, as well as R&D focused on future machining and manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate current and emerging industry trends; analyze competitive threats and technology gaps to inform strategic decisions.
  • Manage, safeguard, and grow Metem's intellectual property portfolio, including patents and proprietary processes.
  • Develop technical quotes and proposals to win new work while maximizing customer experience and service.
  • Manage capital project pipelines and CAPEX strategy to support continuous improvement in alignment with plant metrics.
  • Drive a robust technical training program to build manufacturing process capability and support employee growth.
  • Partner with the NPI organization to develop, track, and implement new programs from concept through production.
  • Liaise directly with customers to understand future technical needs and clarify current requirements and expectations.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for complex engineering and manufacturing process issues.
  • Standardize engineering practices, technical documentation, and process controls across all supported sites.
  • Report engineering performance, technical risks, and improvement opportunities to senior business leadership.
  • Perform additional responsibilities aligned with business priorities and leadership needs.

What you will bring (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required.
  • 12+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, operations, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing teams
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes; experience with precision machining processes (e.g., ECM, EDM, or comparable non-conventional machining technologies) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders, site teams, and cross-functional stakeholders with clear data, sound judgment, transparency, and operational credibility.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, problem-solving, and escalation skills in high-pressure operational environments.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be able to work on-site in Parsippany, NJ and maintain regular presence with site teams.
  • Ability to travel periodically to supported plant sites, including Allentown, PA and Szazhalombatta, Hungary, based on business needs.
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

What will make you stand out:

  • Demonstrated success developing and commercializing new manufacturing technologies or processes.
  • Deep technical expertise in ECM, EDM, or other advanced/non-conventional machining processes.
  • Proven track record managing and growing an intellectual property portfolio, including patents.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification, with demonstrated success leading Lean transformation efforts to improve equipment layout and material flow.
  • Experience influencing and leading cross-functional and matrixed teams across multiple sites, including international locations.
  • Strong project management skills combined with a passion for continuous improvement and hands-on problem solving ("go and see" mentality).
  • Experience partnering with NPI, customers, and commercial teams to convert technical capability into new business wins.
  • A collaborative, team-centered leadership style that fosters innovation and technical growth across the organization.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ certification, Lean certification, or equivalent continuous improvement credential.
