The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in verification and validation of power system controls, real-time testing, and team leadership, along with the ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.\nJob Description\nEssential Responsibilities\nLead the operation and continuous improvement of the RTDS laboratory, including test automation, tool enhancements, process development and long-term capability development\nManage and develop the local STATCOM engineering team, including work planning, prioritization, coaching, mentoring, and performance management\nOwn verification and validation scope on projects, including deliverables, schedules, technical interfaces, and compliance with customer requirements\nPlan and oversee control system, protection, and system-level testing, including laboratory validation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and support for commissioning\nReview test results, drive issue resolution, and ensure timely closure of validation findings\nSupport customer discussions, technical reviews, and tendering activities related to testing and validation\nEnsure high-quality technical documentation, including validation plans, procedures, specifications, and test reports\nPromote safe laboratory operations by identifying EHS risks and implementing improvements\nFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field\nMinimum of 10 years of experience in verification, validation, testing, or control systems engineering within power systems or power electronics applications\nMinimum of 5 years of Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, technical workstreams, or functional activities\nMinimum of 5 years of experience with real-time testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), or laboratory validation of control systems\nMinimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with RTDS or similar real-time digital simulation platforms\nMinimum of 5 years of experience with control theory, power system dynamics, and grid-connected devices\nFluent in English (spoken and written)\nDesired Qualifications\nMaster’s degree or higher in Power Systems, Control Systems, or Power Electronics\nExperience with STATCOM, SVC, or similar technologies\nStrong understanding of power electronics and compensation systems\nExperience leading teams in a project-driven engineering environment\nExperience supporting customer technical discussions, design reviews, and negotiations\nExperience with test automation and laboratory process improvement\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is a plus\nLocation and Travel\nBased in Saratoga Springs, NY\nWillingness to travel approximately 10-25% for testing, commissioning, and customer engagements\nGE Vernova offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
