We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.Job Description\nAs a Lead Controls and Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering control system projects primarily for Marine, Offshore and Naval applications.\nThis technical role entails working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to design, implement and test our Controls & Automation Systems solutions to meet both customer and marine classification society requirements.\nIn this role you will focus on:\nSupporting the engineering activities during the production of control systems from the receipt of an order to handing over to the customer after commissioning and testing on the vessel at sea.\nProviding a technical interface to customers, classification societies, and suppliers.\nProducing design, installation, and test documentation; maintaining this documentation throughout the project cycle.\nWorking with the Drawing Office to produce equipment drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, cable interconnection drawings, and interface schedules.\nPerforming the functional design of HMI, PLC Architecture, Networks, and Communications Interfaces using standard hardware and software components.\nWriting PLC software using IEC 61131-3 programming languages e.g., Ladder diagram (LD), Function block diagram (FBD), Structured text (ST), Instruction list (IL), and Sequential function chart (SFC).\nDesigning, tagging, and testing control system mimics using HMI SCADA packages.\nPlanning and progressing design and test activities to meet the required delivery dates.\nManaging change during the project lifecycle using appropriate change management processes.\nPerforming factory testing of control systems leading to a formal Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) with customer and classification society.\nSupporting the commissioning and sea-trials phase of the project; normally from the office but with the possibility of visiting the vessel.\nProviding technical advice and assistance to the sales, commissioning, and service teams.\nWe are looking for a committed and professional individual with:\nA relevant degree in Electrical, Electronics or Industrial Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent), or significant relevant experience gained in a professional engineering environment.\nPrevious experience of designing and integrating control & automation project solutions.\nGood understanding of programming PLCs\nKnowledge of Industrial communication protocols e.g. Modbus (RTU/TCP IP), OPC-UA, Profibus, Profinet etc.\nUnrestricted Right to Work in the United Kingdom.\nWhat will make you stand out:\nExperience in integration of control systems.\nChartered Engineer status or working towards achieving it.\nKnowledge/awareness of Operational Technology (OT) cyber security.\nBasic Knowledge of Functional Safety as per IEC 61508.\nWillingness to travel and to spend periods of time on commissioning activities domestically and overseas.\nThis role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
