Working as part of a highly skilled, international engineering team, you will define technical requirements, develop and enhance FPGA-based solutions, and deliver innovative features for VSC and LCC HVDC technologies.This is a business-critical engineering role, with responsibility for delivering robust, high-quality designs that meet product requirements, project milestones and customer needs. You will contribute to the development of both current and next-generation solutions, working collaboratively with engineers across global locations to solve complex technical challenges and continuously improve our products.\nJob Description\nRoles and Responsibilities:\nAnalyse system and product requirements and translate them into effective hardware and FPGA functions.\nDesign, develop and enhance FPGA applications using appropriate HDL technologies.\nSupport the development of new product features while maintaining and improving existing and legacy designs to extend product capability and lifecycle.\nDevelop and maintain manufacturing and production data packs.\nProduce clear and robust functional and technical design specifications.\nDevelop test specifications for routine and type testing and support the verification and validation of designs.\nParticipate in and contribute to technical and design reviews, providing constructive engineering input and helping to resolve complex technical challenges.\nApply structured engineering practices to ensure designs meet company, quality and documentation standards.\nWork collaboratively within a multidisciplinary, international engineering team while taking ownership of individual technical deliverables.\nSupport continuous improvement of FPGA development processes, tools and methodologies.\nRequired Qualifications:\nDegree or higher in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant engineering experience.\nSignificant hands-on experience in FPGA design and development, using VHDL, Verilog or equivalent HDL technologies.\nStrong understanding of digital electronics, electronic components and engineering principles.\nExcellent hardware and FPGA debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues at both design and hardware level.\nDemonstrated ability to analyse technical requirements, develop effective engineering solutions and deliver to agreed quality and project timescales.\nA proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary engineering team.\nDesired Qualifications:\nExperience with Model-Based Design, ideally using MATLAB/Simulink.\nExperience developing hardware or FPGA solutions for real-time control applications.\nKnowledge of high-speed digital hardware design and PCB layout.\nExperience with FPGA simulation, verification and validation methodologies.\nScripting experience using Python, Perl or similar languages.\nExperience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.\nFamiliarity with engineering lifecycle and collaboration tools such as JIRA.\nExperience with power electronics and control system design.\nExperience with FPGA development tools and devices from vendors such as Xilinx, Altera/Intel or Microchip.\nKnowledge of Agile development practices, such as Scrum.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.\nA self-motivated, results-oriented approach with a genuine commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.\nAbout Us:\nGE Vernova is a world leader in the energy solutions market with a portfolio of energy businesses across the globe.
