The M&D product line is a class leading vendor of sensing devices and systems to Electrical Utilities and Industrial customers. The product line spans sensing of multiple asset types and has a broad portfolio of advanced technology, which aid customers to understand and optimize the operating condition of key assets such as HV/MV power transformers and circuit breakers.\nThis role will be focused on the ongoing development and expansion on GE DGA900 and BMT product lines as well as emerging electrical sensing technologies, working on enhancements to the existing products and on new product developments and features.\nThe successful candidate will work as a key technology expert within the R&D team, applying an understanding of electrical sensing technology and system design to provide technical leadership in NPI projects (new product introduction), system design and system test guidance where appropriate, and technical and project leadership in focused R&D initiatives. This role will involve close collaboration with electrical, mechanical, and embedded software design team and other sensing experts working in a team environment to define new requirements and provide technical leadership on feature delivery. The role will also provide support to continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and product quality support where required.\nRole Responsibilities:\nDevelop and apply system expertise to refine and develop M&D monitoring products, demonstrating clear understanding of operational principles, design and usage. \nWork collaboratively within a diverse cross-functional teams to define, design and develop new system concepts and features for M&D monitoring products, developing system, designs and architecture to support key projects. \nWork hands-on with electronics and mechanical components, and software integration (e.g., scripting, test firmware) to build and iterate on early design concepts with long-term system architecture and manufacturability in mind. \nProduce early-stage system design documentation, such as block diagrams, interface definitions, and communication protocol summaries, to support technical alignment and future development.\nMaintain a well-documented approach to builds, ensuring traceability and clarity of setup and outcomes. \nCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand customer needs, system requirements and constraints.\nIdentify and lead development of product design requirements, improvements and best practice in system design and process\nParticipate in hands-on system testing and validation within a dynamic team, recording results and observations in structured formats. \nPresent prototype findings and experimental data clearly to wider team to inform design direction and risk reduction. \nWork collaboratively within diverse international and cross-functional teams which may include occasional international travel.\nApply GE Vernova way principles in day-to-day work with a safety-first mindset. \nCarry out additional duties as requested by the line manager. \nEssential Criteria\nDegree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline, or equivalent experience.\nDemonstrated experience in industrial product design, development and test and from concept to deployment.\nDemonstrated experience in requirements development and management including breakdown of high level customer or business requirements to technical hardware and firmware designs.\nProven strong record in technical leadership experience in a multi-disciplinary product development project from concept to deployment.\nExperience of development processes such as SAFe, Agile, etc and their use in product development.\nAdvanced documentation and communication skills to support knowledge transfer and design traceability. \nCuriosity and initiative: willing to ask questions, try new approaches, and explore design alternatives. \nAbility to collaborate with large, cross-functional and diverse teams, including remote environments to align on key design decisions. \nAbility to communicate technical matters clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally. \nSafety-first mindset, leading by example especially when working with lab hardware, electronics, and test environments and with focus on product safety.\nDesirable Criteria\nExperience in transformer and substation monitoring equipment and techniques\nR&D leadership experience on technology development projects, including project strategy, project scope development and project technical delivery.\nDemonstrated experience of designing and operation of highly sensitive scientific/electronic equipment.\nDemonstrated experience working on electrical sensing technologies and products, e.g. for Grid applications (such as bushing monitoring, partial discharge, CT sensors).\nExperience in software programming languages and/or analytical software packages (e.g. Python, R, Matlab) and automation tools (e.g. Labview, Simulink).\nExperience in delivering technical projects with remote teams, including detailed requirements specification for remote implementation of hardware/software features and deliverables.\nDesign of hardware systems utilizing embedded processors, DSPs, memory devices, OPAMPs, A/D and D/A converters, as well as other peripheral devices (such as MODBUS, USB interfaces, Ethernet and I2C interfaces).\nExperience of hands-on prototyping or experimental builds involving sensors, embedded systems, or electromechanical devices. \nFamiliarity with lab tools (oscilloscopes,
