Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage operational logistics for a payroll tax function supporting 23,000+ employees across 30 company entities.
- Stabilize operations in a high-demand environment through decision making, risk-based prioritization, and streamlined execution.
- Oversee the implementation of employment tax compliance activities within People Operations.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment tax regulations through development and monitoring of audit controls in the payroll platform and will integrations.
- Manage and resolve employee inquiries with a high value on world class customer service.
- Manage and resolve inquiries from taxing authorities with a focus on timeliness and risk prioritization.
- Partner with internal tax, payroll, and compliance stakeholders to support employment tax audits and settlements, including preparation and timely decision-making in relation to audit discussions.
- Develop and implement best practices for the execution of employment tax compliance activities across the region.
- Provide operational guidance and support to payroll vendor teams, including training on appropriate pay input parameters.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, HR, and other internal functions to ensure employment tax compliance is fully integrated into People Operations processes and initiatives.
- Design, implement, and track key metrics to monitor operational health and risk, proactively addressing leadership needs and providing visibility into compliance performance.
- Identify and drive continuous process improvements using LEAN methodology and other efficiency frameworks
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and quality to ensure compliance with all relevant legal and tax policy requirements.
Required Qualifications
At least 5+ years of experience in employment tax compliance Canada and USA
Significant prior professional work experience with demonstrated understanding employment tax processes, regulatory compliance and/or Operations/Service-oriented environment.
Fluent in English knowledge both verbal and written.
Strong knowledge of employment tax regulations

Payroll Certification
Experience working United States and Canada employment tax.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing business requirements and regulatory environments
Capability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing across all levels within the organization
Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Proficiency in HR systems (ex. Workday) and technologies
For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $55,000and $105,000CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
