Other duties include mentoring junior and graduate engineers, working with sales engineers to provide cost competitive solutions, and actively contributing to process improvement initiatives.Job Description\nRoles and Responsibilities\nServes as a role model for more junior engineers in following and embracing GEV policies and procedures with special attention to Safety and Integrity\nLeads a multi-discipline engineering team to deliver Variable Speed Drive solutions to customers.\nProvides or coordinates technical support to the Project Management team including internal and external technical presentations, change management, planning, and budget control\nEstablishes strong inter-departmental and inter-company relationships to effectively achieve contract requirements including Project Management, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Testing, Field Service, Suppliers, other GEV entities, and third parties (such as regulatory bodies).\nPerforms design reviews to ensure deliverables meet industry standards of safety, performance, and quality\nMentors less experienced engineers by demonstrating, coaching, and sharing best practices\nParticipates in and contributes to process improvement initiatives\nRequired Qualifications\nBS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university\n5+ years’ experience with MV and LV VSD technology including drive isolation transformers, AC and DC VSDs, and motors.\nEligibility Requirements\nAbility to obtain a secret clearance for US military contracts.\nWillingness to travel up to 20% of the time, including occasional international travel.\nDesired Characteristics\nDemonstrated execution of MV and LV VSD applications such as Oil and Gas compressors, Marine Electric Propulsion, Rolling Mills, Mining, Test Benches, and Renewables.\nDemonstrated leadership of multi-discipline/multi organizational teams of engineers\nAbility to create and maintain traceability and verification reports\nAbility to create and maintain risk registers\nDemonstrated experience in specifying, procuring, testing, and commissioning of drive isolation transformers, VSDs, and motors\nBased on load types such as fixed or variable pitched propellers, calculate speed-torque curves for motor sizing.\nDemonstrated ability to integrate Electric Power and Propulsion Systems to meet power quality standards such as defined in IEEE-45 and/or MIL-STD-1399.\nWorking knowledge of the NEC, UL, CSA or similar rules and regulations for industrial applications\nCapable of creating functional specifications for sub-system vendors to meet overall contractual requirements as a finished solution.\nHands on experience in industrial settings.\nParticipation in commissioning and support of VSD systems\nAbility to manage cost, schedule, and change.\nFamiliarity with Quality Assurance tasks such as Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and 8-D type processes for corrective action and process improvement\nIn depth experience with engineering processes such as Design Reviews, Change Management, Configuration Management, and Document Control\nGE Vernova offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
