A flexible location can be considered.\nJob Description\nThe Service Engineer supports hydro power generator service projects across the full lifecycle - from early technical assessment and proposal support through project execution, commissioning, and warranty follow-up. The role includes technical analysis, site inspections, repair and maintenance scope definition, technical coordination, and engineering support during key execution phases.\nThis is a flexible and varied position that can be shaped to some extent around business needs and the experience of the successful candidate. It is well suited to an engineer who wants to work close to installed equipment and real project delivery, turning engineering assessments into practical and effective solutions.\nYou will be part of GE Vernova’s Hydro team in Norway, working closely with colleagues based in Skøyen and Lier on project delivery, while also drawing on the expertise of a strong international engineering community.\nKey responsibilities\nAct as the main engineering point of contact for customers during project execution\nReview customer requirements and site conditions to define the most suitable technical solution\nSupport preparation of technical proposals for spare parts, inspections, maintenance activities, rehabilitation work, and minor repairs\nCarry out site visits, inspections, and technical assessments of existing generator equipment\nDefine repair and maintenance scope based on equipment condition and project requirements\nSupport project execution by coordinating technical activities with internal teams, workshop resources, and external partners\nProvide engineering support during manufacturing, installation, commissioning, testing, and other critical project phases\nEnsure delivery in line with safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements\nManage technical changes, non-conformities, and engineering issues during project execution\nIdentify opportunities for additional service, maintenance, and repair work based on site findings and customer needs\nContribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned across projects\nQualifications and experience\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering\nRelevant experience in hydro power, rotating equipment, marine, oil and gas, power generation, or other heavy industrial environments involving large electromechanical systems\nExperience with generator service, rehabilitation, maintenance, retrofit projects, or related service engineering work is a strong advantage\nGood understanding of mechanical engineering, assembly methods, and site execution\nExperience reading and working with technical drawings and CAD tools such as AutoCAD and NX\nKnowledge of strength of materials, finite element analysis, metallurgy, or welding processes is an advantage\nStrong communication and coordination skills\nAbility to work independently and take ownership in a customer-facing engineering role\nValid right to work in Norway is required, together with a strong understanding of the Norwegian language and fluency in English\nWillingness to travel internationally and within the Nordic region as needed\nWhy join GE Vernova?\nThis is an opportunity to join a global leader in generator technology and services, with a strong engineering environment and a well-established Hydro team in Norway.
