Our team combines technical expertise with a practical, customer-focused approach to ensure reliable equipment performance and high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities / Tasks

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and proactive Sales Support Engineer to join our Separation Sales team, specialising in environmental applications including industrial and municipal wastewater treatment, waste-to-energy, and agricultural processes. This role would be particularly well suited to a Field Service Engineer looking to transition into a more commercially focused sales support position while continuing to develop their technical expertise, with genuine opportunities for career progression and the potential to develop into a full sales role in the future.

The role will focus on supporting the commissioning, optimisation and ongoing performance of environmental process systems across the UK. The successful candidate will play an important role in developing and maintaining strong customer relationships, providing practical technical support and ensuring the effective operation of our installed equipment.

This is a varied, hands-on role that combines technical problem-solving with customer interaction, offering the opportunity to work across a diverse range of environmental applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-site Trials and Sample Testing: Conduct on-site trials and sample testing at customer locations to assess process performance, evaluate potential applications and support research and development activities.
  • Process Optimisation and Technical Support: Provide practical technical assistance, troubleshooting and process optimisation support to help customers achieve efficient and reliable equipment performance across a range of environmental applications.
  • Operator Training: Deliver practical training and operational guidance to customer operators when required, ensuring they have the knowledge and confidence to operate equipment effectively.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers through regular site visits, effective communication and ongoing technical support, helping to ensure customer satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
  • Market Growth Support: Support the development of new business opportunities by visiting prospective customers, conducting trials and testing, and providing technical input to help expand GEA's presence within the environmental sector.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with sales and technical colleagues in the UK and Germany to provide effective customer support, share technical knowledge and ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior technical sales colleagues, covering trial results, project progress, customer feedback, technical findings and potential market opportunities.

Travel Requirements:

The role involves regular travel to customer sites throughout the UK. A company-provided van, equipped with the necessary testing equipment, will be available to support these activities.

A full, clean UK driving licence is essential for this position.

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • Qualifications and Experience: A relevant technical or engineering qualification, or equivalent practical industry experience.
  • Technical Aptitude: A practical, hands-on approach with an interest in process equipment, commissioning, troubleshooting and optimisation. Previous experience in these areas would be beneficial, although appropriate training and support will be provided.
  • Motivation and Willingness to Learn: An enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and a genuine interest in developing their technical knowledge and skills within the environmental sector.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to customers, understand their requirements and build positive, lasting working relationships.
  • Teamwork and Independence: The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team, demonstrating initiative, flexibility and a willingness to support colleagues and customers.
