As a Senior Cloud Backend Engineer, you will help build and operate the cloud platform behind these solutions. You will join an experienced development team at our Belfast location and collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and locations.\nThis is who we are\nWe are part of the GEA Digital Hub and focus exclusively on developing digital solutions and services.\nOur internal developers work in teams with external colleagues and specialists from different disciplines.\nWe develop and operate digital management and monitoring solutions for customers in the dairy industry.\nOur technology stack includes Java, Spring Boot, Azure, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Redis, Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, IoT Hub, Key Vault, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Nexus and SonarQube.\nThat’s why we need you\nCollaborate across teams on architecture, system design and technical direction to ensure a cohesive software landscape\nBuild integrations and asynchronous workflows using cloud messaging and data services.\nProvision and evolve Azure infrastructure using Terraform, and contribute to CI/CD and production operations.\nChampion security, reliability, performance, maintainability and automated testing.\nApply high standards of code quality and effective engineering practices.\nSupport other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews and mentoring. \nYour Profile / Qualifications\nYou have a degree in computer science, comparable professional training or equivalent practical experience.\nYou have strong professional experience building production backend services with Spring Boot, preferably in a Kubernetes environment\nYou have hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and infrastructure as code using Terraform.\nYou have experience deploying cloud-native applications with Docker and are familiar with Kubernetes and Helm.\nDesign and develop secure, reliable backend services and REST APIs for our cloud-based digital platform.\nYou have worked with PostgreSQL and have a good understanding of query performance and database layouts.\nYou have experience with asynchronous messaging, for example Azure Service Bus or Event Hubs.\nYou understand API and application security, including OAuth2, JWT, identity management and secure secrets management.\nYou bring a senior-level approach to system design, reliability, automated testing and code quality.\nYou take ownership of your work and contribute actively to the development and operation of cloud services.\nYou communicate effectively across teams and enjoy supporting and mentoring other engineers.\nYou have a good command of English and are generally willing to travel occasionally, including internationally.\nPlease note that this role is based in Belfast and requires a hybrid working arrangement.
