This role will support the design, analysis, development and delivery of engineering solutions, while helping to build capability in areas such as electronics integration, sensing, actuation and control systems.The successful candidate will bring strong mechanical design experience, together with the curiosity, adaptability and technical breadth needed to work across mechanical, electrical, electronic and software boundaries. This is a strong opportunity for someone who is comfortable working in an R&D environment, can help define practical approaches, support cross-functional learning and deliver robust product solutions.\nJob Description\nKey Responsibilities\nApply strong mechanical engineering and product design skills to solve complex technical problems and develop robust, manufacturable and innovative solutions.\nSupport the development of mechatronic products and assemblies, including contribution to electronics integration, PCB-related design considerations and electromechanical system development.\nWork across a range of engineering lifecycle phases, including requirements definition, concept development, detailed design, prototyping, testing, validation, verification and implementation, in line with business standards, practices, procedures and product or programme requirements.\nChallenge established approaches where appropriate and propose innovative solutions supported by sound engineering judgement.\nUse a range of internal and external sources beyond the immediate team to inform decisions and solve problems.\nSupport prototype build, workshop activities, fabrication, assembly and testing as required.\nContribute to the development of practical methods, standards and ways of working in emerging mechatronics-related activities.\nSupport root cause investigations, technical reviews, design improvements and risk reduction activities.\nTravel occasionally to GE MRO sites to support customer research and product testing. Travel may occasionally extend over multiple days, though rarely more than one working week.\nRequired Qualifications and Experience\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.\nStrong experience in mechanical component and assembly design using a range of manufacturing techniques.\nExperience working across multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle.\nExperience collaborating effectively with other engineering disciplines.\nExperience in design for manufacture and assembly.\nProven delivery of engineering solutions in a product development environment.\nExperience using 3D CAD packages, ideally Autodesk Inventor.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, including in ambiguous or evolving technical environments.\nDemonstrated interest, exposure or experience in mechatronic systems, electromechanical integration or electronics-related product development\nDesired Skills and Characteristics\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nExposure to PCB design, electronics integration, sensors, actuators, motors, control systems or embedded hardware.\nExposure to workshop, fabrication, prototype build and testing environments.\nUnderstanding of system-level engineering trade-offs across mechanical and electrical domains.\nProactive, adaptable and collaborative approach to problem solving.\nComfortable working in multidisciplinary teams and contributing to a positive team environment. \nFlexible Working\nGE Aerospace supports and encourages flexible working arrangements, where possible, and recognises the benefits to employees of having a positive work-life balance.\nTotal Reward\nAt GE Aerospace we understand the importance of Total Reward.
