This role will contribute to a broad range of mechanical engineering activities across the product development lifecycle, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions.The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in mechanical component and assembly design, clear technical communication skills and a collaborative approach to project delivery. This role is well suited to someone who is motivated, adaptable and comfortable contributing across design, analysis, prototyping, testing and documentation activities.\nJob Description\nKey Responsibilities\nSupport project teams with a broad range of mechanical engineering activities across the design, manufacture, testing and deployment of new products.\nContribute to concept design, including ideation, refinement and down-selection of solutions.\nModel components and assemblies in 3D CAD.\nAnalyse component designs to identify and mitigate potential failure modes and assess tolerance stack-ups.\nProduce component and assembly drawings, including GD&T, for manufacture and assembly in line with established processes.\nSupport rapid prototyping and testing of components and assemblies using a variety of manufacturing methods, including in-house 3D printing.\nGenerate technical documentation to communicate designs, decisions and test outcomes clearly to project team members.\nCommunicate technical information clearly and effectively through meetings, digital communications, reports and day-to-day collaboration.\nCommunicate technical functionality and requirements effectively with colleagues from non-technical disciplines.\nTravel occasionally to GE MRO sites to support customer research and product testing. Travel may occasionally extend over multiple days, though rarely more than one working week.\nUndertake other reasonable duties consistent with the role and business needs.\nRequired Qualifications and Experience\nExperience in the design and specification of mechanical components and assemblies.\nExperience using CAD software.\nExperience producing manufacturing drawings.\nExperience carrying out physical analysis of components, including use of Excel and FEA tools.\nExperience in design for manufacture.\nExperience in component and assembly verification and validation through testing.\nBasic experience in risk evaluation.\nBasic experience producing technical documentation.\nBasic experience using workshop tools, including hand tools and basic power tools.\nGood general computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.\nDesired Skills and Characteristics\nExperience using 3D printing technologies, such as FDM and SLA.\nBasic knowledge of electronics.\nBasic knowledge of software or scripting.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nPositive, self-motivated and proactive approach.\nFlexible and able to respond to changing business priorities.\nCollaborative and effective team member.\nOrganized, precise and detail-focused in approach to work. \nFlexible Working\nGE Aerospace supports and encourages flexible working arrangements, where possible, and recognises the benefits to employees of having a positive work-life balance.\nTotal Reward\nAt GE Aerospace we understand the importance of Total Reward.
