This enables real-time decision making to increase the efficiency and safety of operations, promote mission readiness, and protect the environment and civilization from the effects of infrastructure failure.\nRole at a Glance\nGecko Robotics is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team in New York for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, onsite internship, Monday through Friday.\nGecko’s Engineering teams build customer-facing applications that turn robot, sensor, and document data into decisions about the health of critical infrastructure. You will work across the stack on a defined project: building frontend workflows, backend services, and data pipelines that make complex asset data usable by the people who maintain it. You will ship real features into a product that customers already rely on, with clear direction from a mentor and the room to own your piece of it.\nDue to government program requirements, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.\nWhat you will do\nOwn a scoped full-stack project from design through deployment under the guidance of experienced engineers.\n\nBuild user-facing features in React and TypeScript that support real operational workflows.\n\nDevelop backend APIs and services in Python that ingest, transform, and serve structured and unstructured data.\n\nDesign data models and schemas, and write the logic that parses, associates, and validates data from multiple sources.\n\nUse version control, code review, testing, and structured debugging to produce maintainable code.\n\nCollaborate with engineers, product managers, and Forward Deployment Engineers to understand how customers use the product, with the option to travel to a customer site during the summer.\n\nPresent your project, results, and recommended next steps at the end of the internship.\n\nTechnologies We Use\nReact, TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Git, Linux, and cloud infrastructure (GCP). Depending on the project, you may also work with LLM APIs and data-processing pipelines, 3D visualization, or containerized deployments. The specific tools will depend on the assigned project.\nAbout You\nYou are a builder who likes seeing your work used. You are comfortable moving between frontend and backend, you break large problems into shippable pieces, and you communicate clearly about what you built, what you learned, and what you would do next.\nRequired Skills\nCurrently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.\n\nAbility to work onsite in New York, Monday through Friday, for the full Summer 2027 internship.\n\nFoundational programming experience in Python and JavaScript or TypeScript, including object-oriented or functional programming concepts.\n\nExperience building a web application end to end (frontend and backend) through coursework, projects, research, hackathons, or a prior internship.\n\nWorking familiarity with Git or similar version control systems.\n\nUnderstanding of relational databases and REST APIs.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical work, explain tradeoffs, and collaborate on ambiguous problems.\n\nAbility to independently close knowledge gaps, stay organized, and learn from feedback.\n\nPreferred Skills\nExperience with React and TypeScript in a real project.\n\nExperience designing data schemas or working with messy, real-world datasets.\n\nExposure to cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP, and to containers such as Docker.\n\nExposure to integrating LLM or other AI APIs into an application.\n\nInterest in 3D, visualization, or spatial data.\n\nInterest in industrial, defense, or infrastructure applications where reliability matters.\n\nWho We Are\nAt Gecko, our people are our greatest investment.
