The position is with GEICO Staff Counsel located in Fairfax, VA.\nJob duties and responsibilities:\nResearching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda\nRendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department\nPreparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, to include depositions/examinationsbefore trial and examinations under oath, and defending by trial or dispositive hearing, all matters assigned, as applicable\nQualifications:\n2-6+ years of experience in related field litigation experience on insurance/defense/andor personal injury REQUIRED\nJuris Doctor degree REQUIRED\nAdmission to the Virginia Bar REQUIRED\nMust be licensed in good standing to practice law in Virginia and meet and maintain licensing requirements including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable\nMust be able to travel as required, including but not limited, to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences\nMust be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization\nMust be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/prioritysetting and multi-tasking skills\nMust be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information\nPreferred Qualifications:\nCivil litigation experience\nInsurance defense-related litigation experience\nMust be able to communicate in a professional manner in person, via telephone and written correspondence/email\nLocation - REMOTE\n#LI-MD2\nAnnual Salary\n$118,900.00 - $186,550.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
