This role will contribute to the design, testing, optimization, and support of critical data pipelines across multiple technical environments within various business functions in support of GEICO’s operational data reporting. As a member of an agile team, the incumbent assists with testing, validation, user acceptance testing, deployment, and post-implementation support. This includes writing code that builds datasets, metrics, and data needed for our business partners, while collaborating with peers and stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.\nResponsibilities:\nDemonstrate a strong foundation in modern data architecture concepts such as data warehouses, data marts, data lakes,lakehouses, and related data delivery patterns.\n\nDesign efficient, scalable data models and data delivery solutions for complex projects, with guidance from architecture and leadership teams as needed.\n\nRecommend practical data delivery technologies and approaches that improve maintainability, performance, and usability.\n\nProficiently execute all phases of development for automated data delivery processes supporting reporting and dashboards using ETL/ELT tools such asdbt, Azure Data Factory, or related technologies.\n\nApply advanced SQL skills to write, debug, optimize, and maintain queries and data pipelines.\n\nUse strong quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to deliver high-quality outcomes.\n\nSupport the migration of existing SAS solutions to technologies used widely at GEICO, such asdbtand Power BI.\n\nWork closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement data models and architectures that support client projects and initiatives.\n\nPerform and automate daily maintenance processes.\n\nAssist with data and database migrations, testing, and validation.\n\nContribute to team-level development standards and best practices, including documentation, modularization, testing, and code review expectations.\n\nPromote a culture of continuous refinement of capabilities and processes.\n\nAssist with project and time management, including estimates, status reporting, and coordination with stakeholders.\n\nConduct root cause analysis and performance tuning for data pipelines, queries, and reporting datasets.\n\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members as needed.\n\nQualifications:\nMust be proficient developing data pipelines utilizingdbt, GitHub and Airflow, or similar technologies\n\nMust be able to work both independently and in a teamenvironment\n\nMust be able to multi-task\n\nMust be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information\n\nMust be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing\n\nMust have the following experience:\nRelevant work experience of 5+ years required\n\nProperty & Casualty (P&C) claims data/analytics experience or any P&C insurance industry experience\n\nHybrid work requirement: location specific\n\nLocation:\nThis position is a hybrid role.
