In this role, you will build and scale the next generation of underwriting platform for all business lines in GEICO and revampexisting tier-1 underwriting services.\nYou will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization by designing, developing, and deploying core consumer experiences that leverageAI, ensuring they are robust, scalable and production ready.\nThe Service Underwriting Engineering team partners closely with GEICO's underwriting operations team to design, build, and enhance applications that streamline underwriting processes and improve decision-making efficiency. The team develops scalable, reliable solutions that enable underwriters to work smarter, faster, and with accuracy, and aim to replace repetitive manual work with AI and automation.\nPosition Responsibilities\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will:\nScope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems\n\nEngage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle\n\nParticipate in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization\n\nUtilize programming languages like C#, Java or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services\n\nConsistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams\n\nBuild product definition and leverageyour technical skills to drive towards the right solution\n\nAnalysis and Estimation skills\n\nQualifications\nProgramming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C#or other object-oriented languages\n\nExperience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems\n\nIn-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms\n\nUnderstanding of service-oriented architecture and extensible REST/gRPCAPIs\n\nUnderstanding of monitoring tools\n\nKnowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)\n\nUnderstanding in DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture, and Azure DevOps Operational Framework\n\nExperience with Enterprise level design documentation\n\nExperience with Database Technologies\n\nExperience with deployment steps and general CM functions\n\nStrong problem-solving ability\n\nStrong oral and written communication skills\n\nAbility to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment\n\nExperience\n5+ years of professional experience in software engineering\n\n4+ years of experience with security, identity, architecture, and design\n\n2+ years of experience with open-source frameworks is desired\n\n2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud serviceprovider\n\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience\n\nThis is a Hybrid role based out of any of the following offices:\n- Bellevue, WA\n- Richardson, TX\n- Bethesda, MD\nAnnual Salary\n$100,000.00 - $215,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline.
