Implements and supervises the physical exercise program of patients in the outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program at assigned location.Job Duties:\nSchedules patients for entry into cardiac rehabilitation program.\nAssists with the orientation, development of individualized goals and plan of care of new patients.\nThis includes the calculation of exercise prescription and home exercise programs based on stress test results to provide medically stable activities to each individual patient.\nSupervises patients during outpatient exercise sessions, monitoring patients for inappropriate responses to exercises.\nProvides individualized and group patient education in areas of expertise.\nPerforms warm-up, cool down exercises with patients.\nDetermines patient suitability for testing based on medical history, chart review, and resting EKG.\nContacts assigned cardiologist or patient’s referring provider regarding more suitable tests.\nExplains test procedures to patients and answers any questions.\nMonitors patient condition during testing.\nSupervises all exercise, pharmacologic, and metabolic stress tests including technical staff, exercise lab trainees, and students during testing.\nDecides when to terminate testing or exercise session based on exercise lab guidelines.\nProvides preliminary report for resting and exercise EKGs, blood pressure response, symptoms, and arrhythmias.\nContacts the appropriate personnel as necessary for seriously abnormal test results.\nConsults with the exercise lab medical director or designate for clinical questions, as needed.\nInitiates emergency procedures as necessary in accordance with the exercise lab and cardiac rehab policies.\nCoordinates with the area programs to enroll patients into a Cardiac Rehab program.\nProvides formal lectures about exercise testing, cardiac rehab, and related topics as needed for physicians, technical staff, and students.\nWork is typically performed in a clinical environment.
