This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, TN. The ideal candidate will have experience developing, modifying, and maintaining Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for complex industrial, manufacturing, or nuclear facilities. This position will support engineering design, equipment modifications, system upgrades, and configuration management activities while ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop, revise, and maintain Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for mechanical, process, utility, and instrumentation systems.\n\nPrepare and update engineering drawings using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or equivalent CAD software.\n\nInterpret engineering specifications, process flow diagrams (PFDs), equipment layouts, and technical documentation.\n\nIncorporate engineering changes, field modifications, and redline markups into controlled drawings.\n\nPerform field walkdowns to verify existing equipment configurations, piping arrangements, instrumentation, and system components.\n\nCoordinate with mechanical, process, electrical, and instrumentation and controls (I&C) engineers to ensure drawing accuracy.\n\nDevelop and maintain piping layouts, equipment drawings, valve schedules, instrument identification, and associated technical documentation.\n\nSupport engineering design reviews, system modifications, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.\n\nEnsure drawings comply with applicable ASME, ANSI, ISA, and site-specific engineering standards.\n\nMaintain drawing revisions, document control, and configuration management requirements.\n\nIdentify and resolve discrepancies between existing drawings, engineering specifications, and actual field conditions.\n\nSupport construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities by providing accurate engineering documentation.\n\nRequirements\nEducation & Years of Experience - Associate's Degree for the Drafter/Designer role, if interested as an Engineer you must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.\n\nCitizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.\n\nClearance - To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.\n\nExperience developing, modifying, and maintaining P&IDs in an industrial, manufacturing, chemical processing, or nuclear environment.\n\nProficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar engineering design software.\n\nStrong understanding of piping systems, valves, pumps, pressure vessels, instrumentation, and process equipment.\n\nAbility to interpret P&IDs, PFDs, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.\n\nExperience incorporating engineering change requests, redlines, and as-built modifications into controlled drawings.\n\nKnowledge of piping and instrumentation symbols, equipment identification, and applicable drafting standards.\n\nExperience performing field walkdowns and verifying installed equipment configurations.\n\nFamiliarity with engineering document control, revision management, and configuration management.\n\nStrong organizational, technical communication, and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams.\n\nDesired Skills\nExperience supporting DOE, NRC, nuclear, uranium enrichment, or other highly regulated industrial facilities.\n\nKnowledge of ASME B31.3, ANSI/ISA-5.1, and applicable engineering design standards.\n\nExperience with process piping, industrial utilities, chemical processing systems, and instrumentation and controls.\n\nFamiliarity with engineering change control, configuration management, and quality assurance requirements.\n\nExperience supporting facility modifications, equipment upgrades, construction, and commissioning.\n\nFamiliarity with nuclear safety, Conduct of Engineering, and applicable DOE requirements.\n\nABOUT GEM\nGEM Technologies, Inc.
