POSITION SUMMARY :

We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer with strong expertise in AWS database platforms to join our production support and engineering team. The ideal candidate will focus on providing 24x7 production support, troubleshooting, and engineering solutions for AWS-managed databases including Aurora, DocumentDB, and NoSQL/columnar data stores. This role emphasizes operational reliability, performance optimization, and automation, requiring strong hands-on experience in scripting, Infrastructure-as-Code, and CI/CD. The candidate must be highly proactive with proven problem-solving abilities in high-availability environments.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Provide production support and engineering solutions for AWS relational, NoSQL, and data lake database platforms.

- Manage 24x7 operations including troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and rapid resolution of production issues.

- Perform backup/restore, HA/DR management, and performance tuning for AWS database platforms (Aurora, DocumentDB, etc.).

- Design, build, and support critical platform infrastructure with high reliability and scalability.

- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Bash) for monitoring, alerting, and operational workflows.

- Implement and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for database deployments and upgrades.

- Support performance testing, benchmarking, and optimization initiatives.

- Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and SOPs for repeatable operational processes.

- Collaborate with DevOps, engineering, and SRE teams to align database operations with CI/CD pipelines and observability frameworks.

- Participate in planned off-hours/weekend maintenance and production release activities.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILL SETS :

- 4+ years of database development and operational support experience.

- 2+ years production support experience with cloud database platforms (Aurora, DocumentDB, NoSQL, data lakes).

- 2+ years building and supporting critical database infrastructure in cloud environments.

- Strong experience in AWS relational and NoSQL platforms, including performance tuning, monitoring, HA/DR, and backup/restore.

- Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python) and integration with cloud-native services.

- Hands-on expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation frameworks.

- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and version control as applied to database platforms.

- Strong troubleshooting skills with proven ability to manage high-availability production environments.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong documentation discipline.

GOOD TO HAVE :

- Recent AWS certification (e.g., AWS Database Specialty, Solutions Architect).

- Proven experience in data migration strategies to public cloud platforms.

- Principal-level experience in AWS Aurora and DocumentDB.

- Exposure to monitoring and observability tools for cloud-native database operations.

EDUCATION :

- Bachelor's degree or master's in computer science, Engineering, Software Engineering or a relevant field
