Engine by GEN

Engine by GEN helps enterprise partners distribute, monetize, and optimize financial product experiences across digital channels. Engine powers marketplace, recommendation, API, and embedded product experiences that connect consumers with relevant financial products, services, and offers.

We are building the platform infrastructure that allows financial products to be distributed intelligently across many partners, tenants, channels, and user experiences. That requires more than adding features. It requires scalable systems for APIs, product catalogs, offer management, attribution, reporting, configuration, experimentation, compliance workflows, and operational tooling.

About the Role

Engine by GEN is looking for a Director of Product to own the product strategy and roadmap for the core platform capabilities that power our B2B2C financial product marketplace.

This is a senior, hands-on product leadership role for someone who can operate at both the strategic and technical levels. You will define how Engine’s platform supports enterprise partners, API integrations, hosted experiences, multi-tenant configuration, backend event tracking, funnel measurement, and scalable operations.

The right person will be able to translate complex partner needs, business goals, technical constraints, and operational requirements into platform capabilities that are reusable, measurable, and maintainable. You will be expected to make thoughtful tradeoffs between flexibility and simplicity, partner customization and platform standardization, near-term revenue and long-term scalability.

You will work closely with Engineering, Data Science, Design, Sales, Partner Success, Analytics, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and executive leadership to prioritize high-impact platform investments and ship products that improve how Engine scales.

What You’ll Own

· The roadmap for Engine’s core platform capabilities, including APIs, backend services, tenant configuration, product catalogs, offer management, routing logic, eligibility rules, capping, reporting, attribution, and event tracking.

· Platform features that allow Engine to support many partners and tenants without creating one-off implementations for every customer.

· API and hosted experience infrastructure that enables consistent measurement across partner-controlled and platform-controlled user journeys.

· Backend event models that help Engine understand funnel starts, completions, abandonment, conversion, revenue events, partner performance, and product outcomes.

· Internal tools and workflows that improve partner onboarding, configuration management, launch readiness, monitoring, supportability, and operational efficiency.

· Product requirements for complex platform initiatives, including business requirements, technical specifications, analytics requirements, acceptance criteria, and rollout plans.

· Roadmap tradeoffs across partner demand, revenue opportunities, technical complexity, compliance needs, and long-term platform simplicity.

What You’ll Do

· Define and communicate a clear platform product strategy that supports Engine’s enterprise distribution model.

· Partner with Product Leadership & Engineering to design scalable, secure, and maintainable multi-tenant systems.

· Build platform capabilities that support hosted UX, embedded experiences, and API-based partner integrations.

· Ensure API products are designed with partner integration simplicity, backend event tracking, funnel-state visibility, and abandonment measurement in mind.

· Use data, partner feedback, funnel analysis, and operational insights to prioritize roadmap investments.

· Collaborate with Sales and Partner Success to understand enterprise partner needs and convert them into reusable platform capabilities.

· Work with Analytics to define measurement frameworks for partner performance, funnel conversion, product adoption, and platform health.

· Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Operations to ensure platform workflows support regulated financial product distribution.

· Run a disciplined product development process with Engineering, including discovery, requirements, backlog management, ticket writing, QA, launch planning, and post-launch measurement.

· Communicate roadmap priorities, decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders across the company, including executive leadership.

About You

You are a platform product leader who is comfortable working on complex systems, not just front-end features. You can go deep with engineers on APIs, data models, event tracking, and system design, while also explaining product strategy and business impact clearly to nontechnical stakeholders.

You are highly analytical, commercially aware, and comfortable making hard prioritization decisions. You know that enterprise partners often ask for customization, but you also know that great platform products scale by making the right things configurable and keeping everything else as simple as possible.

You likely have:

· 7+ years of product management experience, with meaningful experience in platform, API, enterprise SaaS, fintech, marketplace, adtech, ecommerce, or data infrastructure products.

· Experience owning complex backend, API, integration, reporting, marketplace, or multi-tenant platform products.

· Strong technical fluency with REST APIs, data models, event tracking, system integrations, technical specifications, and engineering tradeoffs.

· Experience working directly with engineering teams to define scope, prioritize tradeoffs, unblock execution, and ship high-quality products.

· Strong analytical skills, including the ability to use data to evaluate funnel performance, partner behavior, operational efficiency, and business impact.

· Strong communication skills with both technical and nontechnical audiences.

· Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Partner Success, Analytics, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and executive stakeholders.

· Demonstrated success launching platform capabilities or enterprise products with measurable business impact.

· Strong judgment around product configuration, customization, and platform simplicity.

Preferred experience:

· Fintech marketplaces, embedded finance, consumer financial products, lead generation, offer marketplaces, or regulated financial services.

· Product catalogs, offer management systems, attribution models, routing systems, reporting infrastructure, or partner configuration platforms.

· SQL or hands-on data analysis.

· Programming experience is a plus, but not required.

Why This Role Matters

This role sits at the center of Engine’s ability to scale. The decisions made by the Director of Product, Platform will shape how quickly Engine can launch partners, how consistently it can measure performance, how effectively it can support API and hosted experiences, and how well the platform can grow without becoming a collection of custom implementations.

This is the right role for someone who wants to build the systems behind the marketplace: the APIs, data models, configuration layers, reporting frameworks, and operational tools that make enterprise distribution work.

Location: NYC Office (Onsite 3 days per week)

The annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $240,000 and $270,000. Base salary is one component of Gen's total compensation package, which includes 401(k) match, health insurance options, disability coverage, life insurance, and unlimited paid time off. Actual salaries will vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies related to the role.
