Our U.S. Product Public Relations team plays a critical role in bringing that story to life by building understanding, credibility and engagement with the audiences who matter most.\nWe are seeking a Manager, Product Public Relations to help develop and execute compelling communications that support our medicines, pipeline and disease-area priorities.\nThis role offers an opportunity to work across a dynamic portfolio, supporting an evolving approach to communications that brings together earned media, social and digital engagement, content creators, paid amplification and owned channels to deliver meaningful impact.\nAs a member of the Product Public Relations team, you will collaborate with experienced communications professionals and cross-functional partners to translate complex science into relevant, accessible stories that resonate with patients, healthcare professionals and other external audiences.\nKey Accountabilities\nSupport strategic communications planning and execution\nSupport the development and execution of integrated communications plans aligned with business objectives, product milestones and disease-area priorities.\nContribute to communications surrounding clinical data, regulatory milestones, product launches and disease education.\nHelp identify timely opportunities to elevate Genentech’s science, medicines and leadership in areas of significant unmet medical need.\nDeliver compelling, integrated storytelling\nDevelop high-quality communications materials, including press releases, messaging, media pitches, briefing documents, executive content and digital assets.\nTranslate complex scientific, medical and business information into clear, compelling and audience-relevant narratives.\nSupport storytelling across earned media, social and digital platforms, content creators, paid amplification and owned channels.\nEnsure communications are consistent with broader disease-area and portfolio narratives.\nBuild and activate external engagement\nSupport proactive and reactive media relations, including identifying story opportunities, engaging journalists, preparing spokespeople and coordinating interviews.\nHelp identify and engage credible third-party voices, including healthcare professionals, patient advocates and digital influencers.\nCollaborate with agency partners to develop creative approaches to reaching and engaging priority audiences.\nCollaborate across the business\nWork closely with colleagues across Product Public Relations, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Corporate Communications, global colleagues and other functions.\nParticipate in cross-functional planning and execution to ensure communications are aligned, coordinated and impactful.\nHelp manage reviews and approvals, ensuring materials meet Genentech’s standards for accuracy, compliance and quality.\nDrive measurement, innovation and operational excellence\nSupport the measurement and evaluation of communications effectiveness, using insights to inform future planning and optimize performance.\nLook beyond traditional reach metrics to understand audience engagement, message resonance and broader communications impact.\nExplore emerging tools, technologies and AI-enabled approaches to strengthen communications development, execution and measurement.\nSupport agency coordination, project timelines, budgets and other operational activities to ensure high-quality execution.\nWho You Are\nYou are an emerging communications professional with strong writing skills, intellectual curiosity and a passion for translating complex information into stories that make an impact.\nYou are collaborative, proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. You bring a willingness to learn, openness to new approaches and enthusiasm for how communications continues to evolve.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field, or equivalent experience.\nApproximately 6+ years of relevant experience in communications, public relations or a related discipline.\nStrong writing, editing and storytelling capabilities, with the ability to make complex information clear, accurate and engaging.\nFoundational experience in media relations and external communications.\nUnderstanding of integrated communications and interest in social media, digital engagement, content creators and emerging channels.\nStrong organizational, project management and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to work effectively across teams and manage competing priorities.\nA proactive mindset, sound judgment and a commitment to continuous learning.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals or another science-driven industry.\nFamiliarity with communications supporting products, scientific developments or regulated industries.\nExperience contributing to integrated communications campaigns.\nExposure to communications measurement, paid media, digital analytics or emerging technologies.\nInterest in applying AI and innovative tools to modern communications practices\nRelocation Benefits are not available for this position\nThe expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $106,600.00 - $198,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is eligible to earn incentive compensation that is calculated and paid in accordance with the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan for the role.
