Partnering with Engineering and other Lab functions to determine specific test equipment and resource needs to support test execution. Should be able to communicate effectively, document work, create procedures, design, and build test fixtures.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh School Diploma.\n15 Years relevant work experience, or 12 years of relevant experience and an Associate Degree in related field.\nProficiency in proper use and application of various hand and power tools.\nProficiency in use of basic and advanced electrical and mechanical test equipment.\nProficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nAssociate degree in related field.\nProficiency working with thermocouples, pressure sensors, and other electrical & mechanical sensors.\nKnowledge with internal combustion engine assemblies.\n2 years in fields related to the type of products Generac produces.\nProficiency working with Data Acquisition Systems.\nKnowledge of ISO 17025\nExperience in welding & shaping sheet metal\nExperience participating in a team-based environment with some project leadership experience.\nExperience in electrical generation devices and related components.\nExperience in mechanical or electrical related field.\nExperience in electrical loading and AC & DC power generation systems.\nExperience in electrical & mechanical design, componentry, and ability to create and interpret schematics & blueprints.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES:\n70% Essential Duties\nTesting & Support:\nSupport test equipment and setup for product testing per test procedures.\nPrepare the use of various data acquisition devices for recording mechanical, electrical, and environmental measurements.\nDesign, build, implement, and document electrical & mechanical test fixturing to support lab testing needs.\nMaintain test and lab equipment for calibration, functionality, and operation in accordance of ISO 17025 and the Laboratory Scope of Operations.\nWork closely with internal and external engineering teams as needed to support lab work.\nRespond to and be pro-active about lab support requests in a timely manner, effectively, efficiently, and drive to resolution.\nSupport R&D testing issues through troubleshooting, diagnosis, solution, and improvements.\nActively participate in cost reductions solutions.\nActively participate in product and test equipment improvements.\n25% Essential Duties\nClerical:\nCorrelate and document test data using proper forms and procedures for engineering.\nMaintain test-related documentation in database environment.\nLead and support Calibration of test equipment and instrumentation.\nAssist with Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and organizational 5S programs.\nUpdate and develop policies and procedures supporting the continuous improvement of the Engineering Lab.\n5% Other Duties\nOther Duties:\nCollaborate with Engineers for planning of testing requirements.\nMentor and train developing Technicians and Engineers.\nRegular contact with vendors and service providers.\nRecommend laboratory and facilities equipment needs.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\nAble to work non-standard or extended work hours when necessary.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office.\nDemonstrate aptitude to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.\nLead and complete projects within guidelines.\nDemonstrate self-motivation.\nWork effectively in a fast-pace, team environment.\nCommunicate effectively through written and oral means.\nManage and participate in project design, development, and implementation.\nUnderstand and apply advanced electrical techniques and theories.\nCreate and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.\nDemonstrate understand of quality concepts, continuous improvement, statistical techniques, and preventative/corrective actions.\nDemonstrate instrumentation and testing competence as required per ISO 17025 and the Laboratory Scope of Operations.\nKnowledge of AC and DC electrical generation systems.\nKnowledge of and contribution to a continuous safe work environment.\nPhysical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
