In this role you will be responsible for developing firmware for embedded controls systems used in new product development, new or enhancements to system features, and existing product firmware support where needed. This role will be specifically involved in helping the design and development of new controls or algorithms, and system testing both in the lab and on real products\nYou will be working in our Waukesha WI office location.\nMajor Responsibilities\nProvide new product development support, specific to microprocessors/microcontrollers in the Industrial, Commercial, Residential and/or Retail generator or Power Tool product area.\nDesigns, validates, and brings new products to market - specific responsibilities include designing and developing application software/firmware for embedded controllers in C, defining interface requirements, and creating firmware for communication interfaces and/or system algorithms\nDesign of new control algorithms and performing Applications Engineering\nDevelop new firmware or software modules, and maintain supporting documentation\nCreate, design and develop test specifications for new systems and firmware/software.\nConducts and evaluates test specifications including testing firmware/hardware\nTake part in Design for Manufacturability and Design for Test Activities\nCollaborates with internal product development departments, and other core engineering teams such including engines, transfer switches, alternators, and others as needed to specify interfaces and/or algorithms needed in controls for interfaces.\nUtilizes simulation tools as appropriate\nCreates and/or modifies design documentation\nHelp troubleshoot designs Participate in design reviews\nSupporting product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs\n Minimum Job Requirements\nEducation\nBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or directly related Engineering degree\n2 years of experience with embedded programming using languages such as C, C++,C#\nKnowledge / Skills / Abilities\nAbility to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy\nUses basic engineering principles\nAble to solve basic engineering problems, good decision-making skills\nBasic knowledge of communication protocols/hardware interface\nPreferred requirements\nExposure to or willingness to adopt AI-assisted development tools.\nAt this time candidates who require sponsorship now or in the future cannot be considered inclusive of OPT or H1B transfer\nNo agencies or 3rd party candidates at this time\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
