This role sits at the intersection of architecture, data engineering, and platform strategy-owning the design ofhighly available, high-volume data systems that ingest and serve telematics data from industrial energy assets in the field.\nAt Generac, we are committed to building sustainable, cleaner energy technology atscale.You’lljoin a collaborative, high-impact team working on cloud-hosted services thatmonitorandoptimizelarge-scale generators, battery storage, and microgrid systems-software that is used, valued, and makes a real difference.\nResponsibilities:\nDefine and own the architecture for cloud-based data solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high availability\n\nLead data architecture discussions and collaborate closely with engineering, product, ML, and cross-functional stakeholders\n\nDesign, build, andmaintainproduction datastores supporting high-speed, high-volume industrial IoT and telematics data\n\nTranslate business and product requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models\n\nDrive best practices for data reliability, performance tuning, partitioning, indexing, and data quality\n\nAnalyze how customers and systems use data,identifyinefficiencies, and propose architectural improvements\n\nCoach and mentor engineers on data architecture best practices through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance\n\nClearly explain complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience\n\n8+ years of experience working across the data tier, from design through development and production support\n\n5+ years of experience in adata architect role with strong grounding in enterprise data architecture concepts\n\nProven experience leading data architecture in production cloud environments (Azure preferred)\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience working withhigh-speed, high-volume telematics or time-series data\n\nFamiliarity withInfrastructure as Code, preferablyTerraform\n\nProgramming or scripting experience inPython, PowerShell, and/or T-SQL\n\nExperience supporting or enablingAI/ML projects\n\nKnowledge of data governance, data privacy, and compliance (e.g., GDPR)\n\nEnterprise-levelexpertisewithMicrosoft SQL Server or similar relational databases\n\nHands-on experience with at least one NoSQL database (e.g., key-value, document, graph, or column store)\n\nStrong experience withdata warehouse, data lake, andlakehouse design patterns\n\nExperience designing andmaintaining data pipelines\n\nDeep knowledge of data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical)\n\nStrong understanding of performance tuning, indexing, and partitioning strategies\n\nPassion for modern data architecture, microservices, and cloud-native data platforms\n\nA naturally curious, growth-oriented mindset with a desire to mentor and elevate others\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams\n\nGreat Reasons to work for Generac\nCompetitive Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision,401kand many more\n\nMake a positive impact. The salary range for this role is $100,300-160,500USD. This compensation willultimately bein line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will bedeterminedbyvarious factorssuch as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills,certificationsand geographic location.
