This leader will oversee electrical, mechanical, and controls engineers delivering reliable, code-compliant, and manufacturable solutions. The role serves as a key connection between engineering and manufacturing to drive efficient execution, rapid issue resolution, and product quality. Ideal candidates bring deep expertise in electrical power systems, power distribution equipment, and applicable industry standards. This position partners closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Product Management, Sales, and Controls Engineering to drive technical excellence and continuous improvement.\nMajor Responsibilities:\nEngineering LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical and mechanical engineers supporting new product development, custom engineered solutions, and sustaining engineering activities.\nBuild a culture focused on ownership, responsiveness, technical rigor, and operational excellence.\nEstablish priorities and resource allocation to support both customer commitments and manufacturing demands.\nCollaborate with engineering teams across Generac's C&I Energy Systems organization to drive alignment, integration, and successful customer outcomes.\n\nElectrical System Design & Technical LeadershipProvide technical leadership for low and medium voltage power distribution systems including switchgear, paralleling gear, docking stations, and control systems. \nReview and approve complex electrical designs, one-line diagrams, schematics, equipment layouts, and control architectures.\nEnsure designs align with customer specifications, performance requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.\n\n Compliance & Product SafetyDrive engineering rigor for product compliance to applicable standards, such as UL 891, UL 1558, UL 508A, NEC, NFPA or other customer specifications. Ensure engineering compliance reviews and support certification activities.\nMaintain a strong organizational focus on electrical safety, product reliability, and quality throughout the product lifecycle.\n\n Manufacturing & Operations SupportPartner closely with Manufacturing and Operations teams to support daily production activities, and provide rapid engineering response to resolve issues.\nOrganize the teams around problem-solving efforts to resolve design, assembly, and test challenges.\nDrive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Service (DFS) improvements that simplify production, improve quality, and reduce cost, or improve the customer life cycle experience.\n\n Customer-Focused Solution DevelopmentLead engineering activities associated with custom-configured customer solutions.\nReview project specifications and develop compliant electrical architectures that meet customer requirements.\nCollaborate with Sales, Product Management, and customers to resolve technical issues and clarify requirements.\n\n Platform Standardization and ScalabilityLead efforts to increase commonality across products, improving efficiency, quality, and speed of execution.\nSupport the development of flexible, scalable solutions that address a broad range of customer applications.\nDesigns and directs the work of the tea and selects, coaches, and develops staff. The salary range for this role based in Peoria, IL is $160,000 - $250,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location.
