In this role, you'll be speaking every day to corporate leaders who rely on GA to help them apply these solutions to their workforce of the future. \nWe are currently looking for a lead instructor for our full-time (12 week) Software Engineering Bootcamp. \nWe are looking for instructors:\nOur Software Engineering Bootcamp is a life-changing educational experience where our students learn the skills and mindsets to take on new careers as web developers. We are looking for a lead instructor with strong front-end and back-end development experience to play a key role on our instructional team.\nThis role is based in Singapore and is delivered in a hybrid (on campus and online) format, requiring instructors to reside in Singapore and have an eligible work permit or be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident. As a teacher, you will join us to:\nWork closely with the instructional team (co-lead instructors, instructional associates, instructor manager) to guide students through a rigorous, transformational journey.\nBecome a better leader, coach, and mentor as you learn from students, experienced instructors, and the larger General Assembly community.\nInspire and support students as they identify their passions and drive their own continued learning beyond the curriculum; motivate students when they deal with classroom and personal challenges that become barriers to learning.\nAdapt our global curriculum and use it to guide your teaching, building your own lesson plans as needed and contributing back your lessons learned over time.\nFacilitate a safe, supportive, and energetic community that welcomes the various abilities, needs and learning styles of your students.\nWhat do we teach?\nThrough a combination of live instruction, supported study with independent work, unit projects (individual and team-based) and 1:1 support to master full-stack web development, we prepare our learners to become full stack software engineers with experience in solving real world engineering problems.\nOur curriculum is designed to guide students through the software development process, starting from foundational concepts to advanced applications. We begin with the basics of programming using JavaScript and introduce web design with HTML and CSS. From there, we progress to simple web development, followed by more advanced front-end techniques using React.js.\nThe course then transitions to backend development, focusing on Express.js, API creation, and database management. Approximately 50% of the course is dedicated to JavaScript-based frontend development, 25% to backend development with a focus on APIs, databases, and security, and the remainder on backend development using an additional programming language.\nAdditionally, we equip learners with essential skills for the workplace, including source control, team collaboration, and developer workflows, ensuring they are well-prepared for working in cross-functional team environments.\nThe Software Engineering Bootcamp consists of four units:\nUnit 1: Fundamentals of Software Engineering\nUnit 2: Front-End Development\nUnit 3: Full-Stack Development\nUnit 4: Data and Back-End Development\nLearning is assessed through four major projects (two independent projects, one team project, and a final course capstone), in addition to smaller projects and labs. About 20% of the overall class time is dedicated to supporting learners’ project work.\nSkills and Qualifications\nYou are the person that your colleagues naturally gravitate to when they are trying to figure something out.\nYou are eager to shape the skills, minds, and careers of the newest generation of web developers.\nYou have at least 4+ years of experience working on a software development team.\nFamiliarity with Computer Science topics, such as: Recursion, Sorting, Search, Linked Lists, Stacks and queues, Sets, Trees, Search Tries, Graphs, Hash tables, and Design patterns\nYou have working experience in both front-end and back-end development, and are fluent in:\nHTML and CSS\nFull-stack JavaScript (strong JavaScript highly preferred)\nAt least one JS MV* framework (React preferred)\nSQL databases (we generally use PosgreSQL)\nNoSQL (we generally cover MongoDB and Redis)\nAt least one additional object-oriented language (Python highly preferred)\nPriority will be given to applicants with the Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) /Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), awarded by the Institute of Adult Learning Singapore.\nThis role is based in Singapore and you must be authorized to work in Singapore.
