As part of your application, you must upload proof of enrolment and your most recent academic transcript.\n We're seeking a DevOps Engineering co-op to join our Ottawa, ON or Calgary, AB team Fall 2026.\nIn this role, students contribute to the development, integration, and sustainment of software and firmware systems that support defence operations. These positions provide hands-on experience with build systems, automated testing, tooling evaluation, and DevOps practices. Students gain exposure to critical software capabilities used in land operations, including systems deployed on vehicles, command posts, and other operational platforms.\nIn this role you can expect to:\nSupport and contribute to software and firmware build systems, helping ensure reliable and repeatable builds.\nEvaluate, document, and analyze software tools, providing actionable insights to engineering and product teams.\nAssist with the management and improvement of automated test systems, gaining exposure to test frameworks and scripting.\nParticipate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution, under guidance from senior engineers.\nCollaborate closely with team members through scrums, task planning, and iterative development activities.\nIntegrate efforts across development and testing teams, helping to improve software delivery pipelines.\nPropose innovative ideas to enhance build, test, and deployment processes, contributing to team efficiency and product quality.\n What You Need to Have to Succeed\nCurrently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.\nFamiliarity with computer networking and networking equipment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nEnthusiastic, willing to learn, and takes ownership of assigned work.\nWhat Makes You Stand Out\nKnowledge of object-oriented programming languages such as C/C++, C#, Java, or Python.\nExposure to DevOps tools such as Ansible, Docker, or Kubernetes.\nFamiliarity with MS Windows Server, Linux, or virtual machine environments.\nFamiliarity with enterprise tools such as GitLab, Rational Team Concert, DOORS/DOORS NG, or JIRA/Confluence.\nExperience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred.\nIt is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed.
