This role offers flexible, as-needed work supporting program lifecycles, planning, technical initiatives, solution development, and stakeholder coordination. The consultant will provide expert guidance, troubleshooting, and strategic input to ensure IT programs are planned efficiently, securely, and in alignment with mission objectives.\nResponsibilities\nProvide on-call consulting support to NASA IT program teams, project managers, and technical stakeholders.\nAssist in the planning, coordination, and execution of enterprise IT initiatives, enhancements, and operational tasks.\nReview program requirements, technical documentation, and performance metrics to identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of IT solutions with program goals and customer expectations.\nPrepare and deliver briefings, reports, or technical summaries to program leadership when required.\nRequired Qualifications\nMA/MS or equivalent and 8+ years of experience\nExperience supporting the NASA environment, customers, and solution development tailored to NASA mission needs.\nIT program support, systems engineering, or enterprise IT operations. • Strong understanding of enterprise IT technologies such as:\n-ServiceNow\n-Cloud services (AWS, Azure, private/hybrid clouds)\n-Enterprise applications and collaboration platforms\n-Networking and infrastructure services\n-Identity, access, and cybersecurity frameworks\n-Ability to analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend effective solutions.\nStrong communication skills with ability to interface with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.\nAbility to manage on-call responsibilities and work independently with minimal oversight.\nAbility to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances (if supporting federal programs).\nPreferred Qualifications\nCertifications such as PMP, ITIL, Security+, AWS/Azure, or other relevant technical or program management credentials.\nFamiliarity with ITSM tools (Remedy, Jira) and enterprise governance frameworks.\nExperience contributing to technical roadmaps, architecture assessments, or modernization initiatives.\nWhat You’ll Bring\nA consultative mindset with a focus on mission alignment, service quality, and operational excellence.\nThe ability to quickly assess issues, recommend solutions, and support program teams in fast-moving environments.\nFlexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering value in a dynamic, on-call role.\nThe likely hourly rate for this position is between $70.81 - $95.81. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
